Hello,
It's finally time to put on a set of headers on my 73' vert.
302 bored 306 , 600 CFM w/ Weiland intake Auto C4, PS, PB.

I'm looking for your recommendations and ease of installation.
Thank you for your help,

I'm rucking summit headers on my 73 with a 351W. They say they were made for the 302, but I've been using them for 20yr now on the 351W. No clearance issues at all with the transmission or power steering or anything. Only complaint I guess is the paint cooked off them. They're holding up fine.
I just pulled out the receipt and these were $75 back when I got them.

Here's a couple pictures I had that kinda show the headers. You can barely see them here and get an idea how low they are.

Hello,
Thank you for the reply and photos, they are very helpful.
I did check out Summit's Brand, $190.00 pr. very affordable.
Looks like you had to pull off your steering pitman arm to get them in.

I think I most likely took the pitman arm loose from the steering link to install the headers. I say that because I replaced the steering box earlier this year, and there's no way I had the pitman arm loose of the steering box before. That thing has been on there since bell bottoms were in style.

If you live near Alexandria, VA, I'll give you a pair of long tube headers. They wouldn't fit on my 73 coupe with a 3-speed manual transmission as they interfered with the clutch linkage.

Hello, thank you for the offer. im a good bit away in SC so ill pass. Offer them in the classified section here.

Every black painted header will cook off the paint, the paint is just there so that the headers do not rust inside the boxes as they sit to get sold. Unless it is a ceramic coated header in black, it will cook off.

Speedway Motors has a pair of long tube headers for a 302 with automatic transmission, I jacked my car up very high and put them in from the bottom without taking any front end part off or loosening them
This is good to know and i appreciate your reply.

Thank you for your reply, it's greatly appreciated.
I did by Hedman Headers uncoated. And bought black header wrap and will safety wire the wrap.
Ive done this for years with my racing motorcycles ( Road Racing). Maybe I should take photos as i go to help other who way want to try wrapping their headers. It keeps the heat in the pipe and lowers engine compartment temps. A must in the south.
