After watching the recent video posted of the car losing its brakes and the passenger eating the dash I decided I needed a usable shoulder belt. You all know the factory shoulder belt is not user friendly. Once belted in forget about rolling the passenger window down or reaching for the radio.
I installed the Scott Drake conversion. Seems ok with some minor install issues. Hope I never need to test them. D6602F7B-5C47-4DA1-906B-B256569FE58B.jpegE9C36810-4AB7-4A27-A65D-4B92CEA84FB1.jpeg

Did the instructions show how/where to anchor the roof connection?

Our 73 Mach 1 only has lap belts. Someone before us removed the roof anchor. I am interested in doing a modern three point conversion, but have no idea where the anchor point is between the headliner and roof.

On our 973 Mustang Convertible we also only have lap belts. I do not see anywhere in the back of the car where a shoulder belt would have been anchored either. I would appreciate any thoughts, or " how I did it" info for either or both the Mach 1 and the Convertible.

Gil, I can't help on the vert, but that has been talked about recently on here. As for the Mach 1, it had to have had shoulder belts and I would be very surprised if someone actually went to the trouble of removing it unless there was damage the had to be fixed, thus it was not replaced. Has the headliner been replaced? I would think you could feel the mount if it's there.
Here's a pic of mine for reference.
I bought a 3 point belt set from Seatbelt Solutions, but if I were doing it again, I'd look closer at Seatbelt Planet. One thing I don't like about all the retro belts I've looked at is the tongue piece does not free slide on the belt as do our modern cars. It makes for a belt that won't fully retract and I find mine often locks up while trying to buckle it up. Not a big deal, but a bit annoying. There have been many posts on this subject.

On the Vert, you have to make a bracket that fits just below that screw above that goes through the rear window trim/windlace. The bracket looks like a "T" with the seat belt pivot bolting on the a shaft that goes through the metal and rear quarter interior trim. The 3-pt kits do come with a bracket like that, but it is too short to use .
