Hi,

This was coming with the Mustang when i purchase this project:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/tff-7078ndp

Can i use this alternator with the cable are do i not need that are another cable? (cable=70Amp and the alternator 100Amp).

I have the Amp gauge in the car, can i use those gauge after mounting that alternator/cable?

Please some advice, i'm not good in reading schematics.

It's crazy to do that all alone when you not dismantling that by myself(a few pic's of the previous owner, that's all).

I have allot of questions about electric connections in the engine compartment.

HELP what a mess HELP.

As far as the gauge goes a higher amp alternator can burn it up unfortunately. The harness really isn't compatible with that style alternator and you will be hacking up a brand new harness from the looks of it to make it work. That and the higher amperage could ruin the wiring. I know a number of people who have installed that style alternator with no ill affects though.

Personally I am not a fan of the GM One wire alternators. I recently upgraded to a Ford 3G Alternator and it got rid of the alternator harness and simplified the hole thing. But in both cases the stock am meter is a loss due to the chance it can be burned up from the higher amperage.

Hook up the alternator accoding to instructions provided with alternator. If you still want your amp gauge to work, send it to rccinnovations.com.(rocketman's classic mustang innovations). He can convert the amp gauge from reading current to reading volts and it looks factory stock. You send him yours and he converts it and sends you a diagram of how to hook it up. Then you will be able to use it with the one wire alt. setup. I had the same thing done.

Hi FM05,

I sent an email to rccinnovations, I'm waiting for response.

When i use a regulator(see instructions sheet), give the alternator the full capacity of 100 Amp or is i't blocked to 60/70 Amp?

What wires must i buy?

Thanks,

Eddy

How? i must figure it out yet.

Thanks for the info.

Hello Eddyw,

Electronic voltage Regulators:

CJ Pony Parts

Just follow the instruction per 1FM05 comment. I am going to look into this for myself since I will be installing electric fans.

It uses the original amp scale, but has been modified to indicate charge/discharge by voltage.
