Clock removal

So as with most clocks mine does not work in my newly acquired 71 coupe. Just wanted to know how to remove the clock from the center console. I did see 2 screws when I slid open the ashtray door but not sure what needs to be removed to free my clock.

Two screws by the ash tray, remove them and you can slide the plate rearward. Once you can see under it, there's a harness connector for the clock, unplug that and you can remove the plate.

Here is a pic of console from the back. Some Mustangs got lighted ash tray, mine did and I am the original owner. Was a cougar thing but they were using up parts at the end of the 73 year.

Original clocks in all of mine. The dash clock out of a 1974 Mustang will bolt right in, wire harness even works. Has numbers that roll around not a dial. Here is a picture of one.

I had Rocketman change mine to quartz movement and it never worked better and it keeps time as good as my daily driver.
