Status: I am now adding quantity and unit of measure. As you work on your motor, please feel free to email me with additional information such as MOTOR, fastener quantity, length, and head size...We can get really down to the details and get thread size. If there is any place where every single piece is detailed out like this, I sure would like to know about it.

Please don't give me any information you are not sure of. I would rather have an empty entry then bad information.

Now we just need someone to blow up their motor so they can take it apart, and lay out their motor with all the pieces and take a picture. I would do it, but when my wife when my sees car parts, instead of seeing a fire breathing steed she sees $$$, then she sees blood, then she hunts me out. Maybe this is best left to one of the single guys, or someone who has the guts to stand up to their betrothed...

I am building my motor from scratch. Not one donor part from my current motor.

As a result, I am trying to compile a complete list of parts...and I do mean complete list of parts that I need to have to put my motor together. This list is generic at this point...except for the all important bypass restrictor, most motors should share this list.

Anyone have any additions? I will edit this post with additions to prevent duplicate postings. At this point I am unable to find any engine build part listing which comes close to the detail offered here.

Well, you've got 161 parts listed. And judging from your note about your rebuild, you pay close attention to detail. What is the purpose of a detailed list of parts for your Cleveland? I'm still in the process of assembling mine, and I'll have to take a look at each baggie that I have left to see if it matches your list.

You remember that guy Murphy? If anything can go wrong it will? He made his money with all those sayings by observing my life.

My genomic makeup contains an extremely anal Industrial Engineer gene. Industrial engineers get to layout plants, factory operations, operating procedures, etc. It is amazing how the lack of 3/8-16x3" bolt can stop a $25M assembly line, or a piece of insulation tape that is 300V instead of 600V can cause the disassembly and rebuild of an electrical module.

I don't want to be stuck at 11:30PM on a Saturday night and not be able to put in my cooling system because I forgot the all import fix for the 351C bypass valve...or something similar...ugh.

Got it. Honestly, I respect your method. Taking many pictures and, when necessary, videos will help a lot, too. Sadly, I've already come across unnamed screws and bolts due to just not paying attention. Having a complete list to refer to will put you miles ahead if something comes up, as in my case.

Isn't there a "cork" gasket for the oil pan, and then a rubber one for the front? I think that is how the 351W was.

And for the intake, is there a rubber gasket in the back?

I always throw away the intake gaskets and make my own...at least I do on the Windsor engines. I've never cracked open a Cleveland (yet).

Since you are trying to do a "compete" list, I bounced your list off my list of parts for my 545 and noted the following additions:

Yep, cork for the oil pan but NO rubber gasket for the intake. RTV sealant only (other colors are available besides the red/orange that I used...:-/ )

Actually, I think the ground strap is not to ground the engine, but to provide a ground to the frame.

The block is grounded with a cable from the battery(as seen in prior post).
