quick question on the coolant bypass plate under the thermostat. Does it just drop in or does it have to be pressed in by a shop? thanks for any reply.
I am unable to remove mine, so I would venture to say it is "pressed" in.

However, I think it could be hammered/rubber malletted in like a freeze plug.

But if you have the part, and the block is at the shop, I imagine they will not have a problem installing it for you.

no. block is in the car and running. Still don't know if I have one in there. Will have to wait till spring to check. but I think that is why my engine over heats.

thanks folks. This won't happen until spring but the question was gnawing at me haha.
When the engines cold just take the 2 bolts out and look. Minimal coolant loss and I would really want to know. Especially if your having overheating issues. Great place to start to look.
