71 MUSTANG WITH 19 OPTIONS FROM THE FACTORY
Hi guys was wondering if someone could chime in on an question I have. Is the front windshield trim the same for a 71-73 mustang fastback and 71-73 mustang coupe? I looked up the part numbers in the ford cat. and the part numbers where different. Anyone out there purchase a coupe windshield trim and installed the windshield trim on there fastback? Thanks Aypsears

Coupes have taller rooflines than fastbacks, which is why there is a difference in door glass - and leads one to believe that the overall windshield shape is slightly different as well.

I have access to both a coupe and a fastback as parts cars, so I'll be happy to whip out a measuring tape this weekend and find out for sure.

thank you that would appreicated

If you check with one of the vendors, you'll also notice that they are both different in configuration. The coupe is a 2-piece deal, and the fastback is made of 3 pieces. So - I'd be willing to bet (based on that and the different roof heights) that they're not interchangeable - without some fairly involved modification, anyway.

Would you have the Windshield Trim for a 72 Coupe on that parts car?

Actually, the '72 is a Mach 1, and the coupe is a '73. I believe it's all there. I'll take the camera and snap a couple pics.

The coupe had a vinyl top, so it also has all the vinyl top molding as well. It all looked to be pretty good, but I honestly didn't give it much thought, since mine's a Mach 1. Stay tuned.

The man has spoken. ;)

Also of note, it's safe to say that all of the glass (windshield, doors, quarter windows, backlight) are all different as well.

OK - so I completed half the mission today: got the pictures of the coupe's molding. The tape measure part... not so much.

The molding on the Mach 1, however, is pretty much spoken for... or at least until Auron73Mach1 and I get ours back together and decide if it's not needed.

Hope this helps!
