A lot of times plastics need to be at certain tempoeratures to set up properly. So hope it is not too cold.

I had a small space heater/blower on it since I poured it. It's starting to set now and I just put my heavy duty heat lamp on it to try and speed it up a little more. I think at this point it's a combination of not quite enough hardener, it's a bit cold, and it's a pretty thick mold. The instructions say 'full cure 48hrs' we'll see what happens, worst case I dig out the prototype, clean it and start over.

fancy that ... big grown men waiting around for a silicone mould to cure like a bunch of bored sissies!

We should all be ashamed of ourselves!

(Please don't tell my wife that I check for updates myself 2 or 3 times a day)

nothing wrong with a little silicone:blush:

Or wanting to watch it! Try throwing a dollar at it.

Abort mission! It did eventually dry, but not right. I re-read the instructions AGAIN and finally figured out what I did wrong. Being from an auto body background where every paint I've ever used has been mixed by VOLUME, I somehow overlooked that these products are mixed by WEIGHT! F@$& ME!!! Now I have to order more because I had initially ordered just enough because the stuff's expensive. Trial & error strikes again! Stay tuned for next weeks episode where the moron reads the instructions CORRECTLY and is successful! :p

Haha, too funny. I mean sorry about the wasted time and materials. :p

Well that waste of material sucks, of course but, don't worry, even the NASA guys screwed up on one of their Mars explorers when they got inches and centimeters wrong.

LOL, another one sitting around eager to see how this goes, with pictures of those on the back of my 71 with sequential LEDs in them... I keep buying parts for a car that doesn't even move or have real paint on it...

I'm going through the same thing right now trying to replace my '00 I totaled back in Dec. She says I need something more practical...I say hell no, I'll negotiate till I get another Stang for a daily driver!
I kind of did that to myself late last fall. 10m/o twins (2 rearward facing car seats) and an office change resulting in 68miles one way to work in DC Metro area traffic meant that I needed something "better" than my pile of trans ams, mustangs and cummins ram (although I can get both car seats, my 100lb dog in it and there is still room for my wife to sit in the front seat ;) )

My concession to fuel economy and practicality was a 2012 SHO. Power everything, seats 5, Sync, awd, and a small 3.5L engine (with twin turbos ;) ). Managed to drag it to the track the first weekend I had it, and ran a really low 13 in it... It's an OK practical daily driver, especially when I get a chance to get a tuner, more boost and some minor mods to get it deep into the 12's...

I feel your pain guys, after 2 years, tons of time and money I can finally say mine is a driving restoration project that at times seems unfinishable. I can't wait to see the finished product on the custom tail lights.

I used what I had left to redo the first half of the mold. Mixed by weight this time and it seems to have worked out much better :) I still have to order more material now to make the other half. I just haven't gotten around to mustering up the $160 for it yet. hopefully next week, unfortunately bills come first :(

The past few weeks have been busy with trying to get my '00 GT stripped so I could get rid of the shell and make room in my driveway and sell off what I don't need for the '71. The shell is on eBay right now and I've sold a few other things. With the $ I've made so far I plan to buy another batch of mold rubber and FINALLY get this done!!! I know alot of you have been patiently waiting on the final results, as have I. Thanks for your patience and hopefully very soon we will see the results of our patience. :)
