Yes. I pulled my new cable out of sheath and lubed with powdered graphite and reassembled. Worked great. Smooth with not bouncing at all.

This super lube looks like it would also be good to use on the door parts, lock, regulator etc..

WCCC suggests using a brake lube called Sil-Glyde which has the same qualities of this super lube.

Pull out the cable. Graphite lube and try to avoid getting anything up around the end by the speedo itself and into the speedo.

Good point!  Whatever grease you use, don't put any on the last 12-18" of the speedo end.
