I've been looking on ebay after seeing someone driving a 68 with blue led ring headlights. What makes a good headlight? Wondering if I should upgrade or just leave them alone.

IMO the halo ring headlights are for the under 17 crowd and doesn't look good on a classic car.

I recently upgraded to halogen bulbs from RA at $4 ea and job done.

However to each their own.
+1 on the halogen lights.

Only suggestion is probably add the headlight relays as the lights draw more current and the original wiring and switch wasn't designed for the increased load.

If your wiring etc is in good shape you can run H6024 halogen sealed beams OK.

My research revealed that they draw only a few more amps than the original incandescent bulbs.

CJ Pony Parts offers H6024 bulbs as a direct replacement with no issue.

DO NOT use H4 or other high amp draw bulbs without a relay kit.

Carbque is not good!

Installing a relay kit will significantly increase your light output, even if you are using old-style OEM bulbs. Relays plus new halogens will make you think you installed a new set of eyeballs.

The relay system is simple and cheap, and is one of the biggest safety upgrades you can do. It makes your car much more enjoyable to drive, just as the LED dash light conversion does.

I don't know. I'm 42 and put in HID lights with a yellow Halo ring, and I like it. At least I think it worked well on my application. I think it depends what look you want to go for. I got my lights on Ebay, and paid maybe 100.00 for the set.

I am poised to buy a pair of those, thanks.

Can you point me in the direction of a "relay kit"

other members have mentioned, thanks again.

I got the one from RCCInovations. Easiest thing I installed. There was no modification needed to the original wiring and he even supplies the circuit breaker that you'll need. Kit has everything you'll need to install. Took me less than an hour to have it in and working.

Blue halo lights are a date with your local police department, and not in a good way. Emergency light color. Simple as that.

Amazing responses I love this forum. Wrapping up loose ends & hopefully my 73 vert will be completed by mid January.

I feel that restoring this car has turned into an addiction. Everything is almost complete but I'm looking for things to fix. Electric ignition? Change braking system? Suspension for a smother ride & stop the sqeaking? When will it stop, lol.
