My Car
1973 Q code Mach 1
Does anyone make a kit for these cars?

Anyone here modify the Flowmaster kit made for the earlier cars?

Do you mean like this?

Don of OMS sells them.

Added some more pictures.

When you buy the hangers, be careful, they differ from car to car.

I only say that because I ended up giving away $100 worth of

hangers that I mistakenly purchased. Also, get the Good clamps.

There are cheap imitations but you want phosphate nuts. Once you

tighten these down, they are not coming off.

We did the job using two bottle jacks but would not do it again

without a lift :s I think Don has everything you need. My system is

patterned after the one used on a Boss 351.

That's standard crush bent exhaust. Mandrel bent doesn't have the narrow areas in the bends.

This is what I love about this forum. Even though I was not asking a

question, I got an answer :)

I see that now, mine is not mandrel bent. I think the bends are

designed to create back pressure which the 335 series engines need.

The normal pipe and tubing benders crush the pipe during the bending process, and are cheaper than mandrel bent, which is why you see more of them.

In my opinion Clevelands, especially 4V, need to breath and benefit from intake manifold upgrades, headers and 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust. The carburetor will need adjusting (richer), though, and timing adjusted.

No engine needs back pressure.

No engine needs back pressure.
According to an article written by George Pence, Clevelands do.

The article is on this forum somewhere. I am by far no expert,

although I am learning a lot, but he descibes something about

exhaust gas "bounce". In the pictures above there is no reason

the pipe between the muffler and H-pipe should not be straight.

It is not.

mike

George Pence does know Clevelands, that's for sure. However, I believe that a full exhaust and low restriction muffler will have enough restriction, compared to open headers.

I went with Pypes SFM04S - System with Street Pro Mufflers. I un-staggered the shocks.

Fit is perfect. Tailpipes are long so you can trim them to fit whatever tips you want. Lots of pipe up front so you can trim to fit different headers. I have Hookers btw.
