My Car
1972 R code Mach1. Being resto moded.
I just didnt trust my math so I decided to mock up the rear axle with 3"PVC and simulate the wheels and tires with styrofoam.

Looks like Im spot on.

Axle needs to be 51" spindle to spindle and ride height puts the axle 3" from the frame rails. Wheels are 20X12 with -.44 offset. 14" tires clear on both sides by 1" and at full bottom (axle hitting frame rails)there still is a 1" clearance to the tub.

Looks good to go.

Time to mount up mock 4 link brackets and get measurements for the axle company to make the custom unit. Going with an Eaton helical center with 4:11 gears. With the double overdrive 6 speed Tremec, that will still bring RPMs under 1800 at 75 MPH using 28.9" diameter tires. First gear will be a crisp 38MPH at 5500 RPM. Good way to get to the speed limit without speeding! 1 to 6 shift while Mr. Policeman is clocking.

51" works well with 14" wide tires on a tubed Mach. Ill need to mock up 4 link brackets next so I can place them on the frame and get measurements for the axle company to mount.

Gives a somewhat accurate picture of how the tires are going to ride. The look is to have about 1-2" of rubber showing between the top of the wheel and the fender... Dont want it too low.

Thanks Jayson,

Yes this Resto Mod is called Kiger stang. Ill be laser engraving the name into the carbon fiber stripes showing black through the carbon. Also will have name laser engraved into the back of the rear tail lenses so there will be a small halo of "KIGER Stang" diagonally in each lens when the rear stop or signals light. Should be a cool look. We shall see.

Just realized I didnt answer your question.. WHY KigerStang?

Wikipedia definition:

Kiger Mustangs, as a rule, are agile and intelligent, with the stamina and surefootedness seen in many feral horse breeds. Bold and with lots of "heart and bottom" (a term for courage and determination) but gentle as well as calm, they are used for pleasure riding as well as endurance riding, assorted performance competition under saddle, driving, and many other situations where an athletic horse is desired.[4]

Explains my project VERY intelligent custom control system (much more than ANY production or performance car). Has a calm mode with a variable speed supercharger (again, a first in the industry for a roots style SC.. )

Can be gentle or athletic depending on a push of the touch screen button.
