Great for stubborn oil filters too.
Yep. I have one of these homemade wrenches in my toolbox for just this reason.Well, maybe try this. take an old or spare 9/16th wrench, heat it up and bend it where necessary just enough to give you clearance but still have good leverage.
This something I've done in the past. Might be worth a try.
Victory is sweet, but I would recommend you get a set of thread chasers, not taps, and take the sensor out asap and clean them up and reinstall before going through too many heat cycles to avoid another PITA in the future.Well just to update, finally got the sucker out! Vice grips that I had wouldn’t grab, so went with the push lock pliers. Took about 30 minutes since it would go about a cm at a time, but it’s out. Pretty much had to do the same thing to get it put back in, but didn’t damage the one coming out so I figured I was in the clear.
That would definitely be the RIGHT thing to do. Just going to enjoy this for a day got vacuum lines capped off the correct way, and the new fuel tank hooked back up. Throwing some 89 in her after work and firing the beast up! I'd go for the expensive stuff, 91 or 93 Octane. Good luck with it.That would definitely be the RIGHT thing to do. We’re back in action! Filled up my 5 gallon with 91, and she fired right up. At first the oil pressure gauge was pretty much pinned at high, let her idle a couple minutes and shut her off. Watching the oil pressure gauge it kind of flicked back to the middle and started going down. Started her back up, and the pressure gauge was reading much more normal. Probably just had to shake the cobwebs out from not working in 7+ years. Verified I wasn’t leaking oil there as well, but will recheck later. Funny thing is, she hasn’t been registered since 2015. All of the gauges work, and all of the lights, minus the interior dome lamp. Runs a little shaky at idle, but as soon as you give her a little onions it smoothes out.I'd go for the expensive stuff, 91 or 93 Octane. Good luck with it.

Will do! I need to drain the coolant, opened up the cap and it just looks a little filmy on the top. I’ll attach the video, maybe get some input. Obviously the exhaust on this is pretty much shot, muffler is rusted out and halfway down the body, the pipe is a little banged up. Someone might have been too low for a speed bump at some point. I capped the vacuum leaks that were obvious. That's great news.
Grab a can of Sea Foam from your parts supplier and run some through the carb at moderate idle, warmed up. I use it all the time to keep the motor running smooth. They also have a spray carb cleaner. Wonderful stuff. I use it for storage too in the gas, winter and summer.
Definitely a "little jumpy". I'm far from being an expert, but that seems almost like it's running on less than 8 cylinders or the firing order is off. At that rate it'll bust the mounts I'm thinking. I would be concerned if it doesn't settle down with a good carb cleaning. One step at a time though. Will do! Dang, not great news. Sure hope it would be firing on 8. I was guessing vacuum leak or maybe a carb adjustment, it completely smoothes out when you give it some gasDefinitely a "little jumpy". IMO, go to HD (or wherever) and get a $60 Milw (a little biased here) temp gun and it will be your buddy on quick info diagnosis. Hit every exhaust port accurately as the plug info you gave us is vague. The exhaust is your last worry unless u have an annoyed neighbor (x2 inside thread joke) but use the heat gun on all moving parts and create a log in your note book (health chart) which is a must, again IMO, to give you the info to share for help.Plugs are new, and looking at the old ones they looked normal. I can take a little sandpaper to the points, was going to eliminate those at some point. I ran a compression test when I was looking at it, got 149-152 on 4 of them. My compression tester kept crapping out though. I did see a rubber fuel line to the carb that looked a little pinched, I’ll attach a pic to see if that would be it
According to the gentleman I bought it from, he had taken the carb off to fix the accelerator pump. Just take the air cleaner off, have her running and shoot some carb cleaner into those? If it cleans up when you engage the accelerator pump circuit then I'd look for dirt/varnish build up in the idle circuit of the carb. A healthy shop of carb cleaner in the air bleeds may help. Good luck. Chuck
Give it a shot! Or how ever many it takes to try to get a reactionAccording to the gentleman I bought it from, he had taken the carb off to fix the accelerator pump. Just take the air cleaner off, have her running and shoot some carb cleaner into those?
Will do! Is this in addition to the Seafoam? I know what it is, I’ve just personally never used it. Some throw it in the tank, or feed it down the carb. Sometimes sounds like it’s going to die that way but probably the most efficientGive it a shot! Or how ever many it takes to try to get a reaction
Never used seafoam and never will, along with any other “miracle” products. Having the original spare drivetrain in storage is my AAA insurance policy! Will do! Is this in addition to the Seafoam?
