The USS Thresher (SSN-593) was a nuclear-powered submarine of the United States Navy and belonged to her named Thresher class . The 1961 commissioned boat sunk on April 10, 1963 about 350 kilometers from Cape Cod on the east coast of the United States, it was lost in diving tests, 129 people died. Thus, the Thresher was the first sunken nuclear submarine. Today, the wreck lies at a depth of about 2,500 meters on the seabed.
