There are a number of ways that you can pre-oil a rebuilt engine - put I haven't done that, so I'm looking for some thoughts on this subject.

I just used this tool to prime my motor. I had the valve covers off so that I could see the oil flowing on the rocker arms and made sure the motor was well lubricated. Also shot a couple squirts of motor oil in each cylinder to get oil on the rings. This worked for me.

Yes in reverse, and I used a 1/2" drill.  You will be surprised at how much torque on the drill when the oil was flowing.  I also had a mechanical oil pressure gauge hooked up at the Oil Pressure sensor to see what kind of pressure I was getting.
