Glad to read this post. Of my seats, one has the spring and the other doesnt. From what i remember they both seem to work well. What is the advantage of having the spring? One seat backs better than the other?

1971 M-code Mach 1
The small spring holds the lever in place so the seat doesn't move until you pull on the lever. The large spring make the seat go back to the end of the track and helps keep the seat from moving when it locked in place

with the lever.
