Is it very dificult to replace the seals on the steering box, the one behind the rag joint has a slight leak. I got a seal kit for the input shaft today but the instructions dont say much.

I want to change the pitman arm and rag joint/steering coupler this weekend,

the pitman seals are easier to change while the box is on the car...if it runs.

box has to be removed to change the top one.

If you car runs...

remove the pitman arm

remove the "C" clip

remove the metal washer

put a drain pan under the steering box

crank up the car, rev the engine some and turn the steering wheel hard one direction...the seals will blow out.

Thanks Don, sounds like a neat trick well maybe not too "neat". I changed the top seal and Pitman arm Sunday ,had to remove the steering gear like you said wasnt too bad. I was amazed that I didnt have to take off the headers.
