Valve Seals

Hi Guys,

We are rebuilding 72 -73? heads 4V on a 351C.  I have a High Energy Cam from Comp with 940-16 Valve springs.  The seals that came out were Speed Pro ST2012 33.  Any advice on what should be put back in.

I would use the newer style with the metal bands to help stay put. The old solid rubber umbrella type tend to come apart over time and can cause your oil pump to lock up the bypass valve and blow up oil filters. Was very common on 289 . 302 engines.

Not suggesting this supplier or which one I do not know which is best right now but go with the ones with the metal bands. Ford Racing also has them.

+1 on the positive seal type. Viton seems to be the best for both intake and exhaust valves.
