So I found out the nice old man 'blasting the rear axle case somehow lost one of the outer flange studs (it must've shot out like a rocket when the sand stream hit it and now lives in a dark corner of his shop under an old some old pipes stacked behind a 55-gallon drum or something).

I was at O'Reilly Auto Parts last night after playing our Community Band concert getting something for the Ram, and one of the guys said he had come in looking for a replacement and was all upset about losing it. Man, I feel bad now: I dropped it off Monday afternoon and told him that I needed it by Friday - I also told him I realized it was short-notice and I know they're busy so if he couldn't get to it, let me know and no worries. He stayed late yesterday to get it done (Dang - I wasn't expecting it until Friday).

I called him this morning and told him not to worry about it, that I'll just get a new one. But wow - my axle case is done! Can't wait to get it all back together and stuff back under the car this weekend!

LMAO! Nah, I gotta go pick up the axle housing today at lunch time. I'll definitely get a shot of it all cleaned up before I paint it.

Out of sheer boredom started bolting parts together to figure the path forward on my quarter panel. 1 thing led to another..... Shame I have to take it all back off, but good to see a car that looks like a car!

Mark installing the parts is the best thing you could do at this point. It would not hurt to put the trunk on to. Then take a step back and see how every thing lines up. If nothing else its inspiration.

Great idea. Appreciate you body guys helping me out with this! I need to put in my fold down brackets next and plan on doing it with the tail light panel out to give me more room.

I fixed my gas gauge finally! I cleaned the connector up and it still didn't work. I topped off the tank, it didn't work. I drove the car sideways a couple of times and voila! I have a functioning gas gauge.

My favorite mechanic's tool, the gas pedal lol

Speaking of gas tanks I pulled mine to replace it with one that didn't have a hole in it. I measured the resistance of the sending unit since my gauge also doesn't work. That worked fine so the gauge problem is elsewhere.

Got the axle housing painted, diff carrier 'blasted & painted, pinion carrier 'blasted & painted, pinion 'bump stop' 'blasted & painted, yoke 'blasted & painted, and busted the bearings off the carrier, pinion, and pinion pilot bearing out of the diff carrier.

Just gotta stuff all the new bearings and seals back in and put it all back together tomorrow.

Thats funny, have you ever done a 7000 RPM tune up?:D

I rough adjusted the camber and toe. The car drives a little twitchy yet. I think it needs more caster. When done I drove it over to pick up a friend and we went to the circle track for a night at the races... good fun.
Dirt or Paved Track? I used to race a "Street Stock" car at our local Dirt Track. A hell of alot of fun but a hell of alot of work! :D

I have found that a good burnout or a good groundloop is better than a Big Hammer for fixin a Ford! :D

Drove the car all day. Played hard at times. Your phone and wallet will reach the backseat for the cubby hole above the radio on it own with the proper launch. My buddy and I actually had went for a March of Dimes show but when we got there it was either cancelled or nobody had shown up (workers included). So we got a call that his church was having a car wash across town so we drove that way. I just donate 20 to have them not wash mine and he donated 10. Typical chebby cheap scape. But while we were there two of the church kids wanted to ride one was a Mustang fan and one the other brand. Since we were just running around we agreed to take them for the day and there mothers pick them up at the cruise in. Them boys had an absolute ball. They asked more questions than the kids ask Charlie on the Farm Bureau commercial. Oh and raised the rev limiter to 6500 rpm will play a while there then adjust as required.

Our local track (Berlin Raceway) is a 7/16 mile paved high bank. Typically 4 classes, FWD 4 cyls, a template stock car, IMCA style modifieds and outlaw latemodels. It's really fun when the New York supermodifieds come to town!

Spent the whole day zirk fitting and welding the front end panels. Paying for it though (but worth every bit of it!) Getting pretty good at that left hand stuff:p
