Latest updates - working on whatever comes next on the 'parts to be done' shelf. My method in my madness is hitting what ever takes my fancy, wether it's exterior, interior, or whatever and gradually all jobs should come together. :)

One little job was the centre consul that was cracked. The ashtray and carrier stiff and rusty.

A few hours of working with a thin wire brush on an electric drill, painting the carrier and ashtray silver. Then a fine sand down on another consul I found through ebay. Coating with plastic primer and final painting in matt black. Greasing up the ball bearings and it's job done.

Ton more work done this week. New floor pans, trunk floor, rear cross support, and started putting doors and fenders on to make sure it is all straight. 913124.jpg913123.jpg913122.jpg913121.jpg

Pulled the trigger on a Classic Auto Air Perfect Fit Elite system with the black anodized billet controls. Be advised that if you live in Texas, it will set you back around $1740... $122 less for other locations that don't have to pay Texas state sales tax. The black anodized billet controls added $120 to the price as well. So, subtract roughly $240, and that's the price to play.

Figured before I transfered the door hardware (window, handles, lock, ect) to the new doors I sanded it down and primered it. Will dpo the inside tomorrow.

Finally got the brakes feeling better. We relocated the line lock a few inches lower, removed the old distribution block, tweaked the lines a bit and bled, bled bled!

Started tuning on the new 850. Feels really good, but I may have a few minor tuning adjustment left to make. Other than fixing my gas gauge when the gas on the tank gets low enough, I'm ready to just enjoy it as is for a while.

I got it appraised by Volo Auto in Illinois for new insurance company. Pleasantly surprised at $30,000 !!!!!!:D

Tore down the 9 inch today and was suprised at the minimal amount of sludge and metal. Cleaned up the pumpkin and am trying to decide a path forward. Pulled the steering wheel cover off expecting many breaks but it too wasn't in bad shape except for a stress crack on the spoke.

Blast and powder coat

Today was eventful but also a little bit of a set back. My Edelbrock 1406 is sitting on top of my Weiand Stealth 8020 manifold waiting to be fired up, unfortunately non of the mounting brackets that Edelbrock makes will work for a 71 with a factory 2bbl. Also I determined that after sitting for 10 years with gas in it, my tank is not reusable, so I ordered a new. Am waiting to hear back from Summit Racing to see if I can return the Edelbrcok mounting parts for credit towards a Lokar Hi-Tech stainless steel Throttle cable and kickdown lever combo. I took off the old exhaust that doesn't match up to the new headers and have decided to go with a local shop to install a full system. Got some more wiring finshed, and reran the way I want it. SO thats about it for the day.

Received a couple of nice, heavy boxes from Classic Auto Air a few days ago, and I've been researching some of the things I still need to get to hear the engine run. I seem to have a plan going on, and then either get side-tracked or wind up thinking things through and going down a slightly different path to make sure the things I do are in the right order (to avoid having to take stuff apart to do something I should've done first, et al).

My plan now is to get the Classic Auto Air kit installed [tomorrow] and run the wiring harness. Once the harness is in, THEN work on getting the engine fired up. After that - probably put it on a trailer and take it home.
