I saw my car for the first time in sunlight today and I'm happy. It's still a bit dusty and needs alot of detail work (and reassembly), but the paint is what I wanted. I know alot of you like perfect, shiny paint.. but this is my thing lol.

Discovered it had a falt tyre and put a spare on that matched the other three tyres on the car. As always seems to be the case the tyre was only flat on the bottom.

I drove mine to work today and thinking about doing it tomorrow too for a short out of town trip. If I do it will be it's first sustained interstate jaunt for a 120 mile round trip. I may chicken out but we'll see in the morning.

Do a hood blackout, and a black '73 stripe or a lower body black out and I think it would be a perfect all 'bidness street brawler.

I quite like it, what paint did you use and how did you lay it down?

Not very exciting but I started the day off by washing it. Black attracts dust like nobody's business. Then I followed that up with making a "what do I want to do to my car" list. It started by finishing the suspension and some Bear brakes, some sort of stroked small block, a T-56 (6-speed), possibly an 8.8" rear end (all forged) and topped off with an all new interior, black dash panels, AutoMeter gauges and a stereo system that is just a little over the top.

I installed a new master cylinder, booster, and a summit racing proportioning valve for the rear. Old master was 1 1/8 bore, new one is .975. Car stops a lot better now, old brakes were way too hard.

I agree it needs some black accents to break up all that green. I am going to play around with some plasti-dip to see what I like best. I was thinking shark teeth like the p40 warhawks had, but it might be too much and get old really quick. I am plasti-dipping all the silver trim and really like the way it is turning out.

Thanks, its hotrod flatz OD green. It's a cheap 2 part urethane paint, so it's not a fancy basecoat clearcoat job with a flattening agent. My friend who paints high end cars for a living has used it before and seemed to like it so I gave it a shot.. it was my first time painting a car and doing body work in general lol, and I painted it in the tiny garage in the background of the pictures. I just used a good urethane grade primer and sprayed 2 wet coats of the paint. I will say it is critical that you shake the can very well before spraying it though, on my first attempt it came out totally shiny. All the flattening agent settles to the bottom of the can and needs some convincing to mix in properly. Urethane paint is nasty stuff too, so a good urethane safe respirator is a must, and covering your eyes, hair and skin up is a good idea. I shook the can upside down and the lid was a little loose, long story short it started to burn my skin to the point that it hurt.

I remove all that sticky crap that held the weather barer on and pressure washed the pass door inside and out.Very happy how clean the inside of the door is. At some point the car had some spots touched up so I took the sander to the left quarter to see what was there. I knew it wasn't much from looking from the trunk side.

Carved the holes in the front aprons for the fender bolts and then chased the threads and started hanging the DS door. Looked to me like a good place to take it up tomorrow. :p

Having a bit of a lazy sunday, I decided to turn the mach over and let it run for a bit (since it had basically been sitting for 2 weeks) originally without any plans to actually drive it. But while it was sitting there idling perfectly (after the auto-choke had relaxed). I just got the urge to go for a drive for the hell of it and give it a proper run.

Luckily for me living out in the hills east of san diego it is a known fact to locals that there is some pretty decent driving out here....it's basically known to the point that every weekend you see tons of cyclists, motorcycles clubs/groups, and a fair number of other classic/sporty cars out here enjoying the roads.

But anyway, not wanting to go too far I decided to do a nice 20 mile loop that basically goes down the old highway near my house, up into the hills on a route that works out to a complete loop from my house one direction and back to my house from the other, lol

Now it's nice cause not only are the roads nice and windy (but not too bad for a car as big as ours) but once you get up in the hills there are some great views/vistas from the road itself, but unfortunately being the one driving there not being too many places w/ enough room to pull over, and not having a passenger to take the pics for me, I couldn't take any pics of that....not to mention even I did I didn't want to waste the shot using the crappy camera on my phone.

But still it was a pretty nice drive, and I'm lucky to live in a part of the country where I can basically do stuff like that almost anytime I want.[/u]

HWY 80 or the 94?:D

I spent the day looking for a car there are not a lot in my area so I been looking on the net
They're getting harder and harder to find, that's for sure. Be patient though and be thorough.
they're also starting to go up in price...mainly due to people's greed and stupidity from what I've seen. But if you keep looking I'm sure you'll find one.
