A good day with the Mustang! I sprayed a lite coat of primer on the patches on the lower quarters. Then I moved on to fitting the new taillight panel. The driver side looks ok,but the passenger side shows quality was not JOB 1.:-/

Installed the rebuilt distributor plus plugs and wires.

Removed the points that came with it and put in a

Pertronix Ignitor with matching coil. We may have

missed a cog on the distributor as the vacuum advance

port is close to the radiator hose. That is to achieve 16

BTDC at a rock solid 700 RPM. Can't believe how steady

the timing marks are now. I wasn't sure the engine was

running when I looked at the marks. Now you just touch

the key and it fires right up. When I shake the old dizzy,

it rattles. Bad dizzy. Lesson learned here. The engine is

a Cleveland long block purchased from Don of OMS a year

and a half ago. We used the original dizzy and fuel pump

taken from the broken engine. The fuel pump was replaced

Had to replace the fuse for the turn signals. It´s a small fuse for mankind but it´s a giant boost for my ego. I fixed something! I feel like a real mechanic! :)

(Insert grunt noises) :)

Finished up the front end upgrade/conversion and test fitted the wheels to make sure nothing rubs. It's going to look great. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1372589170.223030.jpg

Also moved the engine to the same shop so we can install it in the next few weeks. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1372589243.857352.jpg

I had it running for the first time in over a year today! Short lived euphoria though, as I solved my spark issue (obviously) only to discover that I have a carb issue now!! Woohoo!! More on that in a different post....

Today I started with pulling out my taillight collection. Then I sat back with my coffee and admired my stunning collection.:D From there It was trim up the taillight panel and fit the end caps. With the end caps installed you can see that the panel is to far to the right. With the taillights in stalled it really looks to far to the right. So from here I'm going to chicken out and have my brother help me with the final alignment.:dodgy:

Don't be scared to remove some material from the outside edge of the tailight panel where it meets the qtr on the inside & looks like you may need to remove some material from the outer edge of the qtr too on the left..Thats what I had to do to have enough "wiggle room" to center mine. Also take a measurement from the upper rain gutter to the top edge of the tail light panel on the left & the right..You want to make sure the trunk opening is square even all the way across

nothing really...it's been way to hot the past couple days to drive a car w/ vinyl seats and while the car does have AC (that works ok I guess) I much prefer temps that allow the window down, arm out kind of driving, lol

Also, looking good w/ your car mike, hope you can have something driveable to make MBTB next year....Me,Ron, and a few others in my club will be there this year as always. Hope you can drop by again, lol

:D Completed the subframe welding with help from welding teacher, hubby. Learned that when welding, make sure nothing is around metal. Internal insulation melted to the floor pan. Dah! Sometimes I really act like a female! Oh ya! I am a female. We had a great time. Took us only 15 hours between drinks. LOL.

I did trim a little off both the panel and quarters just to get it to fit in hole. The trunk gaps along the quarters are pretty good over all. I just know what I think is good my brother will take to the next level. I'm not scared to do it my self, I'm just going to take advantage of my brothers 30+ years being a bodyman. He took autobody at Henry Abbott Tech, then went to work at Car land autobody in Danbury for years before moving to SoCal. So I would be a fool not to have him give me a hand.:D

Hey James. I will be entering my 89 GT again this year. I would be lucky if I get the Mach in primer by time the show comes around.:-/ The MBTB is a not miss event for me.

That's funny! I am dropping off my Suburban there next week. Got rear ended on main street in Monroe last Friday.

Where does your brother work? I live down that way and I know I'm going to need to find a good shop to do work on my 73. Autobody metal work is not my specialty.

A/C working again after 3 years. Wooohoo.

Finally finally had a free day to get the system serviced with new compressor.

It's so cold I actually had to turn on the heat it was 90 out and pretty much raining.

He works at a collision shop here in Escondido that doesn't do restoration work.

My brother worked there twice. He hasn't worked there since the mid 80s. He always said that was the shop he honed in his skills at.
