Took it to a car show Saturday morning, looked at some seriously cool cars-

Went home and adjusted the valves and tore down an old rear axle- met Mdunlap-he's a heck of a nice guy

got up early this morning and installed the Calverts 3/4 of the way, but they sent the wrong bracket so my passenger side shock won't line up. I'll call them tomorrow and get the right part on the way. I massaged the wheel wells a bit to clear a bit of room and repair a bit of damage that must have occurred from a blow out in the past.

I installed the new fabricated sheet metal valve covers after drilling them for breathers and a relief vavle, repaired some electrical damage from my clumsiness, and installed my new PCV system

Finally I installed an anti diesel solenoid and bracket-though the wiring will have to wait for another day in the near future.

I'm tired

Now just add in some minus degree temps and you'll understand why a lot of stuff doesn't get done over the winter up here....lol

Hey, you could have let the back end hang over the edge of the pool and used your raft as a floating creeper :D

That would make him a Rear Admiral.

Trust me - when it's 112 outside with over 90% humidity, it's just as bad as when it's too cold... and that "season" for us lasts almost as long as winter does for most people. ;)

(it was only 93 at 6:00pm local time today... BTW)

Funny. Don't you have a business to run, or something. rofl

OK - so my Facebook album is acting up - says, "empty." Yeah... right... the pictures I've linked to are still showing up. Whatever.

Anyhoo - I got the car home this morning and I'm making the garage more habitable for it (gotta have lots of room to swing those doors open).

Here it is on the truck in front of my house:

I love the trucks at Clark's Auto Salvage - they have this one, and a #88 Dale Jr. scheme as well. Oddly enough, the driver's name is Rusty. Just a little throwback NASCAR irony. ;) :D

Kudos to Clark's for taking great care in transporting my Mustang! ::thumb::

OK - got the garage all squared away. I now have 3 feet all around - don't want nothin' scratchin' the new paint! ;)

Here were are in the driveway. I got this pic before I popped-on the sport covers I got from Kurt - I'll get another shot of that later. I should've just kept the chrome nuggets (rather than swap on the "parts Galaxie's" 14s - which didn't clear my front calipers for sh!t) since the sport covers popped right on without any fuss. Oh well... maybe I'll get them back before Jim's pal takes it away to die in his back yard.

And finally, all tucked in.

The sucky parts is that the shop is now closed, and won't ever open again until Congress gets its sh!t together and the DoD budget allows for such 'luxuries' for our troops.

The upside is that I can work on it whenever the Hell I want now, instead of just weekends and with a NAF employee escorting me. :dodgy::mad:

Bittersweet day for me. :shy:

Cripes, I need to stay on top of these posts!! Don OMS, you're a genius. I can imagine Eric lying on his back on the raft, floating under the rear end hanging over the pool, with a Crescent wrench in one hand and a beer in the other. They should make a movie of that. rofl . Don Admin, we've got to find a badge for Eric. Rear Admiral? Priceless!

Eric, at least now you are captain of your ship (Rear Admiral, rather :D ) Glad you got her home. I doubt anyone would now understand her Rustang nickname. You've come a long way, my friend!

Dang - And here I was hoping all that "Rear Admiral" business had faded away to one of the previous pages. rofl

Thanks for the kind words, Doc. It's been a long haul, that's for sure. Hopefully, I'll have it on the road before my 4 year anniversary coming up in July (yup - that's how long I've been at it :D ).

Traded parts with BigBlue, and was lucky enough to score two, original 14x7" trim rings. Tried them out on my M-code (with some generic dog dish covers, for lack of the proper Ford covers) to good success:

There's a little Moon Disc look to those centers. Not bad, but I'm still going to dig up the proper ones.

Well - I finally did it. I got the rest of my stuff out of the Auto Hobby Shop today. Took two truck-loads, but it's all home now. OK... except for the '73 coupe parts car (but I told Mr. Walker that it belongs to Auron73mach, and that he should be returning from his deployment soon). OK... now that I think about it, I still need to get the doors and a Ram Air hood removed as well, but I'll do that later.

Anyhoo - everything "pertinent" to my car is home now. Feels a little weird. :shy:

It is great hearing @ y'alls' status as well conveying where my mustang from the 2 steps fwd~3 steps bcwd~2 steps bckwd to 3 steps fwd but as my obligation to help in encouraging others via testimonials ie, how in the short 1.5 years as menber on how it helped me in maintaining a fwd movement to help maintain my insight/morale-productivity-interests in this years' a mustang era/also for others to come fwd for participating in bringing their mustangs to the COTM. Though, seems there is no policy of 'paying it fwd'(putting something back in) for all COTM veterans whom had their cars voted on in previous years COTM. I not only have fears that one year the COTM event may not have the quorum of participants or entrants, interests to continue, may fall to the wayside (to cause a discontinuance of putting out the calendar) but also, create a slowing of creativity w/optimal existing activities w/in the site.(currently there is @ 6 to 10 times more guests to members viewing the web at any given moment). Maybe some kind of incentive for the winning candidate ie, further award in points to ex. VIP upgrade status or .... As this site is only a short # of years elapsed since its founding, though it has held a very productive history w/in this time span, I would hate to see it peaking of marginal rate too soon before picking up a 2nd wind per se, for its notoriety to top off prematurely. Call me an overly paranoid 'newby's' ranting and ravings but having only a short # of time in grade per se, am in all reality, nothing more than a newby. Mikke

I've been busting ass on the car lately. Last weekend I got the front sheet metal off and the engine/transmission pulled. This weekend I pulled a few more miscellaneous under hood items off, stripped the interior, stripped everything out of the doors, pulled the doors and deck lid off, pulled the rear bumper and valance off, removed the taillights marker lights and honeycomb trim panel, Got the top completely loose and ready to pull. This thing is gonna be ready for media blasting before long.

Front sheetmetal off. It has come a long way since then. It was too dark for pictures tonight so I have none with the doors and everything off.

Closeup of the engine compartment. I will replace all 4 aprons and try to repair the cowl. It's rusty like they all get.

Pile O' Parts. It's grown to 10 times its size since I took this picture.

Hot 302 and C4. If everything works out, I'll replace it with a 4V 351C and a mildly built AOD. Only us Ford guys will understand that sentence.

Dash is out...finally. The fire didn't get through, hence the lack of smoke smell which I'm thankful for.

The floors are shockingly solid and original. If they need any patching, I won't find it until it is bare.

And a bonus pic for you guys. I found some Florida beach sand in more than one spot in this car.

This bitch tore me up today. I've never busted my knuckles on metal so many times and I look like I stuck my arms into a box full of razor blades. I officially knocked out blood and sweat today, all I have left is tears. But man am I getting pumped about this thing.

I need to source a rotisserie. Any advice on a cheap option for that? I'm not against building my own but I would love to save the time and effort if possible.

Try removing a torque box without a torch or plasma cutter, with minimal cutting:

It'll be the worst 2.5 hours you'll spend in a long time.

Alright, you win.

Not that I didn't enjoy myself, I will appreciate these moments when I'm in my finished car. Kinda like how you don't appreciate all the stupid things you had to do for a girl until she finally gives you the goods. Then it's like "Oh, good thing I lost sleep to text her" or "Good thing I was there when her ex wouldn't leave her alone". Exactly like saying "Good thing I cut up my hands on that torque box". Know what I'm saying?

Same here. Would you believe I chose to spend the next day (today) drilling out all the spotwelds to get my quarter panel off?

Well, I did.

My back aches, my hands hurt, and I'm floating in all the water I drank to keep hydrated (no comment). But you know what? I wouldn't have enjoyed doing anything else today.

As for making an idiot of one's self with women - that's another story.

I believe it, dedication does funny things to people. Good luck with that quarter panel.

The mach 1 stayed at my parents house in SD. But I had my LX at Fabulous Fords in LA today....
