Hey Cuda, what's in the '68 Satellite? An old friend of mine once had a '68 Roadrunner with a 383/ Automatic, that really hauled.

Regarding Eleanor...It's seems weird to me, that the cars in the original movie weren't even Mach 1s, they were just '71 Sportsroofs with blacked out tail light panels and incorrectly ( not as the factory did them ) blacked hoods. So, no one I know is going to bastardize a Mach 1 to build an Eleanor clone......a person would be on the right track to start off with a Sportsroof. That's how I see it anyway.

I even think the second movie with Nicholas Cage, should have used an authentic looking '67 Shelby, rather than build a custom "movie car". I mean, If you're a wealthy car buyer, receiving expensive stolen cars, an original Shelby is certainly worth more than a bondo-ed custom .

I repainted my BFG raised letters white, as they were starting to go brown. I used a fine brush, Mad Cow tyre wall paint and a steady hand.

Here are the results:

So Westley's bleach white would not get them white?
Haven't heard of that stuff. I'll give it a good when they get dirty again. Thanks for the tip.
You can get it at any parts store and Wal Mart of course. Don't breath the spray it will take your breath away but works better than anything I ever tried.

I went to the body shop to visit my car today. The undersides of parts have been painted, and all of the door jambs as well. Next business day, they'll re-assemble the doors/trunk/hood, and mouldings onto the awaiting body and proceed to put some color onto the entire assembled car. The paint looks very nice to me so far, i'm getting excited to see it all one color again. Estimated to be painted by July 4th. Color sanding and polish to follow.....then lots of detailing and external parts re-assembly. By the way, they did a fantastic job on my front rubber bumper. The whole car feels smooth as a baby's backside!

Lookin good, bet you can't wait till it's done!
Yeah........you know, sometimes, it's hard to really appreciate how much work other people have in their cars, until you have to do it, or have it done. There's a ton of work involved in a re-paint. Seeing what's involved in a re-paint is an education for sure.

:shootself:I with the help of MDunlap reinstalled my flywheel, my new clutch, my transmission and driveshaft, swapped to my narrower rear tires pulled what was left of the exhaust to prepare for the new 3" one and have been working through all the little details to get it back together. It is back on its wheels awaiting a few more things like bolting the hood and front bumper back on, an oil change etc.

Looking good, wish my 73 yellow vert had a new paint job like that. It is original paint on 2/3 of car and hate to paint an original but that looks so good. What yellow is it?

David, It's called Medium Yellow Gold, "E" code ,on my door tag. A handful of friends have asked if I was going to change the color of my car, but I like the color...and It's the original color it was built with.

No I like the color all cars should not be red, lol. It is going to look great with that color. My 73 vert is 6E which is Medium Bright Yellow and has the black out around the bottom which helps break it up.

You were saying lots of detailing. Are you going to detail the under hood back to original? I am just finishing up giving the vert a refresh under the hood and also pulled the grill to correct the rattle can restore someone did. It costs the same to do it back original as it does to just spray it all black. Certain parts get a "Slop Grey" color and some get Phosphate coating and some semi gloss or satin black. I ordered the phosphate and may get time today to try it for the hood latch, shock mounts, power steering pump bracket and hood hinges. Some of the brackets for air conditioner are also phosphate. I can send you info if you are going to do yours correct. This link gives info on the engine paint codes for all mustangs. I ordered my paint from NPD and get it in a couple days has a great spray nozzle if you are not going to use a gun.

A detailed engine does look good. My car will not be a show car just driver so I did change some things.

David, your car looks great under the hood.

My car used to before all the dust that now resides there from the body shop. I don't really need to re-paint anything, more like I'll need to clean and re-detail everything from, under the hood, to under the wheel wells, back around the gas tank. I've even restored the license plates while they're off to like-new. The interior was clean before the body shop too, but I'm sure I'll spend a weekend cleaning that too. Lots of people have said "...you're going to get your car so nice you won't want to drive it every day anymore..". That's like saying ".. my wife is so pretty I don't want to make love to her anymore...". Wankers....

Got to drive the Mach for the 1st time in 2 years. Still has trans issues as far as shifter alignment, but repairs have been delayed so had to move from shop back to garage till shop upgrades are made.

Engine ran strong, but hard to find drive. I hope I get to enjoy driving soon before it gets too hot to drive with no a/c. Car wants to get up and go from 60-100MPH with the 2.73 rear gears.
