Last night first unofficial Cruise Night was a huge success. Over 40 cars and trucks showed up. I guess the 'hot' weather got everybody fired up. Here's a couple of pic I took early on. Many showed up after.

Lookin' good! Got to laugh at the "Shitbox" next to your car. Heck of a snorkel he's got on there!

Yeah, he's quite a character. Actually, that "thing" gets lots of attention at shows. All good fun. The truck next to him has rats hanging off it all over the place. A real "Rat Rod" .

I got the faux woodgrain dialed into my rimblow deluxe wheel. I also applied the aluminum band and five good coats of clear on back, side and inside profiles of the wheel. I'll clear the woodgrain and outer edge and blend it all in this weekend.
The woodgrain looks great. Would you be willing to share how you accomplished the restoration? I have one that needs restoration.

Well I finished up installing the kickdown cable and changing the oil the other day, While I was at it, I also put a starter heat shield blanket on. It gets really hot being right next to the headers. Got her down off the ramps and jack stands and I figure I take her out and see if the kickdown cable worked or not. Took off and got up to about 40 and mashed the pedal down. Oh Lord, hang on to your shorts. Broke traction and started going sideways. Lucky I was able to handle it and got straighten out right away. Now I need to determine if I really want it hook up! :ROFLMAO:
Kickdown... ye I'm missing the 3" link for mine and would have to swap the parts off another Holley. I think it will be worth it. A friend was a terror with one of these with that passing gear. I kind of modeled the 351 after his. lmao

I want one in blue

A lot of subtle changes in 2 weeks. It was a matter of finding the time to accomplish it. This 4lb brittle piece of rubber, was pretty much useless. It was falling apart and didn't seal anything. It literally broke apart removing it. I looked @ and found this GM trunk seal (left over from my 67 GTO) & it fits the 1/4" L shaped ram air cleaner as if it was made for it. Instead of 119.00 + plus shipping buy 4' of this for under 20 bucks and it will fill the void upwards better and is 2lbs lighter. I'm sure I picked it up from Steele Rubber. It's been a while, just look at the pictures for this configuration.

Then I got rid of this inlet and added a plate. The diaphragm was hard & it didn't work correctly. I wanted it closed for better vacuum and ram air functionality. I'm saving the extra parts with the car. I could hunt down an original vacuum cannister, like I did for 1 of the ram air actuators, however, at the moment feel this item is 4lbs of useless overengineered man hrs. I'll eventually install another actuator and add it. At the moment I'm trying to gain a lil vacuum, since it's located next to a vacuum source and is always open. I'm limited (partially cause of cam) for my power brake system. Actually, the stock brakes on this thing leave much to be desired. Everything down to the hard lines is new and they suck. I've tried 2 different master cylinders, and nobody knows what size to use. I ended up with the correct port sizes and a 1" To no improvement over the other smaller (under 1") master cylider w/ adapter. I have a vacuum pump, just don't see a reason to use it for 5.15 lift. It's not as radical, as others I've used.

I took my 2016 Mustang GT convertible for a 130km cruise through Niagara Falls and Parkway.
It was record breaking weather 28 Celcius.View attachment 75648
I was near Niagara Falls, started up my 73 Cougar for the first time this year. Driving was actually uncomfortable hot. On that 110 km/h section of QEW, the left lane goes 130. Fun to hear my engine rev like that.
For the Americans, 28 celcius is 80 degrees. 130 is 81 mph. Doesn't sound like much, but a rare treat for us Canadians.

Well today turned out to be a real treat............... NOT!!
I drove to Sarnia, Ontario, with some buddies for a fun cruise along the St Clair river on a beautiful sunny day. Just as we pulled into the parking lot under the Bluewater Bridge to get some fries, the damn high pressure line blew off the PS pump. I put this hose on at least 8 years ago and the pump end fitting lets go now! At least I was in a spot that was accessible for the tow truck. There was no way I was going to drive it home with it like that and run the pump dry. Good job I have CAA
So this is not what did you do to your car today, but what I'll be doing tomorrow. What a frigging mess to clean up, a complete engine bay detail job. As for the hose, it was from NPD. I am going to take the hose to a local hydraulic shop and see if I can get a new fitting crimped on. If not, then I will have to order from NPD I guess. A blessing in disguise in a way, because the main shaft seal was leaking slightly, nothing to be too worried about, but now I can put in a rebuilt pump, just got to put the pulley on it.

Yep, our cars keep it fun and interesting :)

Ye I've had 2 separate leaks on my power steering & replaced a line last weekend. It's the freak'n mess. I used dish soap and household cleaners and pitchers of water. I'm still finding it. I'm afraid to trash the paint.

Holy smokes! Sorry to hear she stranded you for a bit. But, on the bright side your car makes that rollback look GOOD 😊

I gotta ask… brown gravy on those fries?? On the ferry from NS to PEI, fries and brown gravy were always a must!
Nah, just Malt Vinegar. Awesome fries, but under the circumstances, I didn't get to enjoy them.

Funny you say dish soap. I was thinking just before I logged in today, that Dawn Power Spray (or whatever it's called) would be the best choice. I don't want anything too strong. At least as I was not moving fast, the oil is not all along the underside.......... I hope.

While this little saga is on this thread, does anyone know of a better crimped PS hose for the 71, long hose that is. I know others have had these fittings blow before and the reason being the way the crimp was done. If it wasn't for PS box end having the extended steel line piece, I'd have one custom made.
Suggestions welcome.

EDIT: The Gates 353570 is the correct (or at least better) replacement pressure hose, but is unobtainium. I no longer trust the 115 dollar one I have now, that NPD sells. There are other hp hose listed, but these have a corrugated cover thing on them, looks totally wrong, but they are cheap!!
