where to put h or X pipe

I'm putting on a cross over pipe but don't know where to put it. I have hooker headers.

Also, is the system louder with or without crossover and is xpipe louder then hpipe.

The crossover goes as far forward as practical. No crossover is loudest, h next, and x quietest. Each one has it's own sound. Without a crossover you get a more staccato sound, what we used to call rap.

The x pipe merges underneath the tailshaft housing on my magnaflow system, it seems to work good there. I have heard the spot where the exhaust pipes get hottest after the header collectors is the best place to install H/X crossover pipes Some paint or a temp probe would probably work for finding that spot.
