image.jpgStill in exploration mode. The last piece led me to trying out this idea. Now I think I'm closer to the look I want. It's time to stop messing around with the IR heat lamp and time to use my oven at home ( when my wife is out ). These quick tests are helpfull but the results are to sloppy to use.

image.jpgIm not so sure that it will work out better since this is all another first for me but the worst that could happen is that my chicken tastes like plastic.

image.jpgMade this.....

image.jpgUsed it as a press on this with the lens in between......

image.jpg........and got this. Have fun anyone else who's in the mood to try it out.

image.jpgWell I got my final piece, the grill surround, back from the fibreglass shop and put it into place. Now all the parts are here at the same time and hanging on the car. Nothing but the obstical of finding time to hold me back from final fitment and shaping. I don't anticipate you will be seeing much from me in a while. My work will take more of my focus and the body work on the car will more than likely take a back seat to that. A year from now I would like to be turning my final screw and be ready to shake out any bugs for the summer of '16 and I don't like making time frames that I cannot keep!!

That sucks, I have been enjoying reading your build. However, you gotta do what you gotta do. There will be time for the car at some point. You have done amazing work. Things I have never seen before

I´ll miss your regular updates but I understand that work should come first.

Please don´t be a stranger. Your project is one of the most exciting on this site!

Thanks for your cool comments. I'm not going to disappear from the site. I just don't think there will be much progress to share but I will make an effort to keep things moving.

image.jpgAs a matter of fact my good friend Tony is a weekend away from finishing my 347. No one I'd rather have build an engine going in this car. Going for a very machined, racey appearance. These polished valve covers I bought are getting Scotchbrite scuffed and matte cleared to match the heads and intake. The rest of the engine bay components, like the ram air intake and engine cover, will get similarly treated. Looking forward to being at that stage of the build.

image.jpgThis set up over the aluminum heads with a custom built aluminum air box too make the ram air functional. Should look pretty raw to go with the nasty sound and performance.

image.jpgHalo headlights arrived along with the remote trunk latch and the LED tail light light panels. I always like to do before and afters of the car as I go. Keeps me in the game.

image.jpgid say that's looking pretty different.

Once the grill face is blacked out the black headlights should blend right in. The mouth of the grill as well as the grill mesh is probably going to get the same brushed flat aluminum finish of the engine components in the above photos.

image.jpgIf it's ok, I'd like to share that it would be my dad's birthday tomorrow on the 5th of April. He would have been 76 and he is the reason I'm so into cars. My dad Steve and I were closest when we talked about cars or did things that involved cars. We built his 68 ragtop in 99 and sadly as he grew to weak, he sold it in 2013. It went to a family member so that's nice. I guess the reason I'm sharing this is because even though these cars are nice to own and tinker with it's the moments we get to spend with people who are important to us that is the greatest beauty of these machines. He never got to be involved in this build with me, but I will take this opportunity to involve my 12 yr. old daughter and 9 yr old son and continue to forge a life time of memories for us. Cheers to you and your families!!

Thanks for sharing your story with us. It's important to do things with your kids and to share a common interest/project together. They just grow up too fast.

A family that plays together stays together..... is easier when it involves classic cars and the events we take them to. It bridges all the ages.

Let me know if you get what you need or if you need me to fire off those pieces.

My Dad taught me more than I realized and while we worked on stuff.

Funny how "tasks" turn out to be skills.

Make memories and enjoy the time with your family.

Thanks for sharing your daddy's picture and the story behind! Family is always the main thing! It is great that you can share your passion with your dad!

Same story with my dad - without him I would not have this passion too. I had the Mustang first - now he has one too: a 1973 Q-code convert! Love to see how he and my mother are lucky by driving around on nice weather and having picknick here and there. I wish they could make that forever... hopefully long enough! Nice to have always some petrol-head talk with your dad and feel his passion for cars too :)

That is truly fantastic my friend. My dad always had something cool all through my childhood and my mom, not really a car person, supported him in his joy for all the different cars. He's had everything from a 70 firebird to a 74 mini to a 73 Jag to a 64 t-bird and his 68 mustang rag but his dream car was always a 63 Galaxie and he never got himself one. It was being able to get him one back in June of last year that helps me deal with him being gone just a little bit easier. I feel like it keeps him close.

image.jpg Hi guys. It's been a while. Progress on the body has been at a crawl since work is taking up all my energy. In the mean time, my friend Tony Martini, THE engine builder has finished my power plant. A roller 347 that will be a perfect street weapon. In the 450hp range is what I wanted. So many opportunities to go for much more hp but it's purpose is to enjoy on the street daily. This will be nasty enough for me.
