All,
One of my biggest issues with reproduction window felt kits is that they do not hold up to the UV and outside elements. As I stated in the thread earlier, they did not hold up after a few years. I thought Steele Rubber Products would be a good product to look at. After corresponding with Mustang of Ohio, Don was on target. I wrote to Steele Rubber requesting information regarding the Ford products. Here is my email thread.
We manufacture the majority of our parts here in our manufacturing plant in
Denver, NC. Most of our Ford parts are outsourced. I know the parts that we manufacture here
are manufactured with compounds to produce longevity and softness. I know a lot of
the Ford parts that we sell are the same that other dealers sell. We still offer a 100%
satisfaction guarantee on all parts that we sell, including outsourced items. Please let me
know if I can help you further.
Thanks,
Terri

Hello Terri,
Yes! My original question was, Does Steele Rubber make their own rubber parts or
is it a third party who makes the parts? Also, is there UV protection added to
your rubber products to protect against rot and drying out with cracks? The
reason I ask, is the repop window felt and rubber parts I installed on my 1973
mustang did not even last 4 years. I want a product that will perform/last just
like the original installed window rubber parts/felt weatherstrip.
Thank You
David Edwards

I am a little disappointed that I could not get the UV protection answer I was looking for from Steele Rubber Products. They stated that their products are manufactured with compounds to produce longevity and softness. Looks like their Ford rubber products are third party industry standard. One positive note, Steele Rubber Products and Ohio Mustang Supply, LLC will replace the defective rubber felt parts with an identical part as long as the original has not been altered in any way.
