I think going from 4 to 5 amps, or 14 to 15 amps won't make much of a difference.
He is right, 4A to 5A is 25% more, 14A to 15A is what 7%... They ran the whole car on 6 fuses, the 4A is really just the only one like that... keep that small fuse if you like , I just found it easier to do it that way.

Hey, I don't want to disagree because I went to great lengths finding those annoying 4 amp glass fuses. However, I wonder if in reality it would make a big difference. If you look at the equation/tables to properly size wiring, besides amps, they consider the length of the wire and the desired voltage drops. I don't think 1 amp difference will make a wire melt or not, so I hope!
@midlife, you have so much experience on this, what are your thoughts on this debacle between 4 and 5 amp fuses?

Probably OK, but getting the right fuses should not be a problem. Most Mustang stores have them; Amazon and most car part stores can get them quickly as well.
The tiny 4a ones were used in my nova, too. They were at least somewhat popular size.

I really like the idea of this conversion to blade fuses just for the fact that it will be a lot easier to deal with when replacing on the road. Plus I already use blade fuses for a bunch of circuits I have added in the engine bay. How many of you have gone this route?

I bought this kit from CJ Pony parts, and went up to the next highest Amp level (so, if it called for a 4a, I went to 5a) . It is a lot easier to find blade type fuse than glass. For the real small one, I had to grind it down a little on both sides to make it work.View attachment 97821
I ordered a few Flex-Fuses for our 1973 Mach 1, intending to clean up fuse taps used to provide fused and switched power to our full length center console's fabricated Power Panel ussed to power our cell phones via a fuel outler high amperage USB socket, as well as sending power to a DashCam, and to a Garmin Drive 52 GPS/Backup Camera Display. The solution I had was functional, but the Flex-Fuse looks like a cleaner was to provide both a nice fuse solution and power tap tab. Once Spring breaks I plan to do the same for our 1973 Mustang Convertible.
I am glad CJ Pony Parts is now offering the Flex-Fuse solution. When I purchased ours I could not find them anywhere other that at the link below:
