For now I am getting new bearing pressed since this would not be an overnight endeavor!

Well, after replacing the bearings not surprisingly the noise is gone. I will keep this rear end and will keep an eye on the bearings. I will check them at the end of the season and then mid season next year. If they can last a whole season without cracking i may opt for replacing the bearings annually in lieu of getting a full floater and spending a lot of money. Time will tell.
