Insurance for Aussie driver in my Mach 1 in the US

OK, I have just this week paid for my Mach 1. I'll be driving it from AL to CA.

My Aust insurance will not cover this.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Has anyone done this before or know someone who has?

Some insurance companies have add-ons for driving in other countries, you might give your company a call.

Check with the Aussie vehicle registration people as well. In Virginia, for about $5 I can get something called a trip pass so that the vehicle is legally registered to cross state lines. If memory serves, it was good for about 3 days. Plates from Australia might also be needed for the travel? As for insurance, starting with your current carrier is probably the best bet.

You might want to try some of the ins companies that deal with "classics" like Haggerty to see if they can cover you with driving in the states.

Well, It is good that Insurance of van is necessary in US. Insurance company will help You to when You have loss in any stage.

I was wondering about that and also how can you get license plates and title to the car?

When I bought my vert in VA. I called my insurance company and they issued me a rider policy so I could drive the car home to Ontario

What did you get?

As for insurance - check with some normal insurance companies. I don't see a problem with a U.S. registered car.
