Rear glass trim install help needed

Gents,

I am having a heck of a time trying to install the aluminum trim that surrounds the glass on a 72 coupe. I bought all new clips, but for the life of me I can’t get them to clip over the trim. Is there a trick to it? I assume I am doing something wrong.

I spent 2 hrs trying to install the trim this past Saturday and I walked away before I broke something.

MAKE SURE you are using the correct clips. Earlier Mustangs used a heavier guage clip and steel trim. They look the same, but the aluminum trim on a 71 is about half the thickness and therefore a lighter clip that will work on the aluminum.

It was the clips… I had some of the old ones and tried those. They worked much better. Thanks!
