• The Mustang Club of America (MCA) has replaced Technical Inspection with Classification. MCA recognizes the importance of accurately classifying a car, making sure the car is placed in the correct class, when entering a show. More emphasis is now put on correct placement of a car than inspecting items that local and state agencies are responsible for. Our shows are static shows; we judge the cars for correctness, cleanliness and modifications, depending on the class it is in. We continue to feel proper placement of your car for a better competitive field far outweighs the understanding of the operation of the vehicles horn or lights. Finally and most importantly MCA will continue to stress safety by the requirement of fire extinguishers, low speed limits and our restriction on starting engines while on the show field (until the show is over).

Classification is determined by the following criteria:

1. Year

2. Model - which is determined by the vehicle’s VIN number (Data Plate)

3. Use and level of authenticity

With this in mind, most car owners will have an idea of the correct class to which their Mustang should be assigned on the show field. The owner should be able to provide the Classification Team with the proper information to validate the correct assignment, which will make the process smooth and efficient. MCA Classification review of your Mustang at National/Grand National shows, starts prior to Registration, will assure that your Mustang is in the proper class and will have the best opportunity to receive an award. Since cars are judged on their own merits, the Judging staff hopes our shows will be a learning process to assist in bringing all entries to the highest level of achievement desired.

One other thing... If you bought the car brand new and had Dealer Options added before delivery (that would not show up on the Marti Report, right?), would that have constitued being 'modified'?
