I spent three days replacing my interior panels.

Last year I scored some rear panels (the ones that go left and right of the rear seat, I dunno what they call them) from a donor car.

Those panels were blue, so I had to dye them white first. I had the paint mixed to match the white of the new repro door panels.

Now those new repro panels were a major PITA.

No holes for the chrome door opener and accuracy of fit is virtually nonexistent.

It was impossible to line up the holes in the doors with the fastening clips, so I resorted to double sided tape to get the panels to stick to the doors. Works great!

The good thing is that I finally got rid of the speakers in the rear panels and relocated them to the doors.

Looks good, all new, clean white panels with no speaker cutouts!

Now I gotta do the seat covers, because they look really crappy now.

First and foremost: don't be "put off" by the price: This is worth every penny and then some!!! I can't stress enough the ease of use and actual pleasure that you get when waxing your ride with it... doing a silver Ford FLEX literally made a neighbor stop and say that it looked better than one sitting in a showroom at our Ford dealer up the road... and then using it on top of Brilliant Glaze on my black paint was an EASY way to get the molten onyx effect! I was hesitant to buy a $70 wax at first. So I bit the bullet and got a tub. I always used liquid waxes in the past so I didn't know what expect. This past wax is super easy to apply. It takes 20-30 minutes to haze then you wipe off. Don't let haze too long otherwise it is a little hard to remove. The results are outstanding. For those that think it is too much, here is a breakdown. The Americana is $70. You will get at least 35 waxes out of a tub if not more. That's $2 per coat of wax. It is a great value for the results you get.

I have tried many different waxes from the store and even online and they don't compare at all to Americana. This stuff smells great, goes on and easy and comes off easy. Its not a product that you have to work out of your paint or use a detail spray to aid in removal. This wax is so easy you will want to wax again and again. You will get that waxing excitement back that you have been searching for. Do not let the price fool you. Think about how much money you have spent on the X brand waxes and such and how many times did you use them? How easy were they to use? This wax is not one you will let sit on your shelf to collect dust!

Goes on fast and easy, comes off fast and easy, looks incredible, and endures on the paint. The depth of your paint will be revealed with Americana. Black is amazing, Red is killer, and the metallics have new depth and dimension. Even my Mom's '90 accord coffee metallic paint looks great with it. I don't know about you, but when I finally get time to work on the finish, I don't want to waste my time with difficult application or removal esp. with substandard results. The Americana will give you stunning results in less time than you can imagine. And you apply so little of it that the tub will last a loong time.

Americana is a bargin. At first it seemed a little pricey for car wax, but the results speak for themselves. It's bar none the best wax under $200. You can spend a lot more money on a wax that won't give you nearly the same results. Grab a can of it, you won't be disappointed.

There are a lot of lofty claims about Americana and some very shiny pictures to back them up here but none of that cured my skepticism. I bit the bullet and got Americana even with my doubts and to my amazement it really is worth every penny and then some. I've never seen my car look that nice and the number of compliments I have gotten has skyrocketed. It really is a pretty special wax, not to mention it is durable, and one jar will last a very long time.

I would have never thought I'd spend so much money on my detail supplies but when you do it right and get an amazing product, you can't go wrong! Great stuff. Yes, it is pricey, but you get what you pay for! It lasts forever, and is a cinch to take off. Unless you let your girlfriend wax her car with it, and she gives the whole car a 1mm coating of it. Taking that much off sucked. But we both learned our lessons. Beautiful shine. I also really like the applicator that comes with the Americana. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Replaced a leaking power steering hose. I had to get the neighbor to loosen the one end (I do not have an impact wrench) but otherwise was an easy job an no more PS fluid spraying on the exhaust to smoke.

Then I notice a rounded off bolt on one of the brackets, I need to replace that while I'm in this,.... then i notice.. well the bracket could use some new paint...then i notice well....another bracket..well it could use repainting too....and then I noticed that the fan....hmmm it needs painting too..............

Hey I'm game. I gave my buddies all the Adams quick detailer for Christmas, now they are wanting to order when they run out. Oh and just put a couple of coats of the buttery stuff on before I checked the computer.


Got my rear louvers on, like the look but not how the dont cover the window all the way to the bottom. Oh and went ahead and lowered the rear 1 inch and will see where the front settles over the summer and work on it this fall.

My ventilation system wasn't working right, it wouldn't come off defrost and there was no heat. I checked some vacuum line diagrams and found that A) the line going to the heating valve motor was not hooked up, and B) the vacuum line going to the manifold wasn't hooked up, either! I got both installed at the right places. Now I can change the ventilation from defrost to floor, but not the upper vents in the dashboard (A/C and Hi/Lo). So I took out the trusty old vacuum gauge:

1) At the heater valve motor I'm getting ~15" of vacuum in A/C mode, 0" in all other modes. With the engine warmed up the heater lines at the water pump are warm, but not at the valve. Obviously, the valve is closed which means that I have a bad valve motor. I'll be ordering one soon.

2) At the motor that switches air to the upper vents, I'm getting more than 15" of vacuum. If I push in on the motor arm, sometimes it will hold and I get air flow, sometimes it will spring back. Another bad solenoid.

3) Also, I found that I don't have the A/C vacuum reservoir. I hooked up the vacuum line directly at the manifold tree. So I have to buy the reservoir as well.

Still, I'm pretty stoked that I got all that figured out and the fixes are pretty easy. Now I just have to troubleshoot the "temp" idiot light issue and fix the interior surface rust. Progress!!

Made it out to the local drive in show for the first time in MY car. The car performed as it should have, flawlessly! Had to laugh on the way home a new Shelby was beside us at a red light, we kinda eyed each others car, light changes I ease off as easy as I can in mine, he lags back, on up the road he eases by me, we hit a straight and I ease back by around 50-60 mph, he pulls up beside me, the girl in the passenger seat kinda nods her head, he tached it up, down shifted and left about fifty feet of black posi-traction marks as he eased off. I just smiled and told Stacey see told you..............

Got to work on my pile this weekend! Yay!

Yesterday, I forgot the camera but got the 'new' forward fuel tank bracket separated from the piece of trunk pan that Don cut out of the donor car. Bead blasted it, and popped holes into it to plug weld onto the floor pan. Also made a patch to bridge the gap of from the trunk's weatherstripping channel to the tail light panel. Cleaned up a few other things that are helping me get closer to getting the new quarters on.

Today, I welded in the bumper braces, the forward fuel tank bracket, and seam sealed the trunk area. Ran out of time, otherwise I would've Rust Bullet'd the whole thing and been done with it.

Here's the weatherstripping channel 'patch' I made. Still gotta grind down the welds and make it pretty.

Here's the fuel tank bracket just before welding on. Turned out awesome and much better than the one from my car.

Since I ran out of time, I also ran out of time for more pictures... except this one which I took earlier. OK guys - what are these things? Since my trunk pan literally came out in pieces, I have no idea where they go. They look like some kind of exhaust hanger brackets to me - but I'm at a loss. Anybody have a picture or sketch of where they go?

Next weekend, I should have the trunk area Rust Bullet'd and maybe one of the quarters on. We'll see - I'm going to make sure I spent plenty of time lining 'em up - certainly not the place to half-ass it.
