Wow nice Cougar. My mom bought a 70 Cougar brand new. Then my brother totaled it racing a Cuda after having his licence for only a week.

Thanks. Just spoke with the painter and is ready for us to bring it. We have a few more things to do first. Trying not to get too excited.

Actually I rowed for over 8 miles and walked 2 miles. Oh and watched the new Batman. Very busy but fun and satisfying day.

I want to be finished but I have really enjoyed working on it. It is cool to see my dads eyes light up as we get closer.

I couldn't stand it! Pulled my idler arm (Rare Parts) and had to clean and give it a coat of primer and paint. (Yes that's my 1-1/8 socket protecting the rubber, but I did tape it) Tomorrow, Center link and pitman arm (both Rare Parts). Who knows, if it works out maybe some control arms and springs!

Started working on my four speed pedal rig. Took the brake pedal out of the automatic power brake parts car and modified it to the brum brake set up I bought. Called Don about an weird braket I found on the four speed housing and now he says use the automatic housing and transfer everything to it. Oh well, scrap metal guy will get one pretty pedal housing. Did find my clutch pedal bushings were toast though so it was worth the tear down.

I have been on a roll. pretty much done with the welding and grinding of the floor pan patches. Next heading to the left quarter and trunk drop off. I'm thinking about priming the floor pan this weekend.

Worked on the blessed 4 speed pedal bracket all day. First the bracket was for an original drum brake car. No problem cut off the studs and drilled holes to accept the vacuum booster studs. Then, it's a 71. 73 had a crumple steering coloumn and 4 studs holding the column in place, No problem, beat, bang, drill, cuss, beat, cuss some more (wished my right hand and 5 lb hammer were available). Finally came up with a set up out of it that the 73 will enjoy. Did I mention no holes for the fuse block and some weird bracket I've yet to identify having to be removed. Not to mention attempting the aluminum bushing removal of the clutch pedal shaft that never happened and propagated the need to adapt everything else!..... Think it will work out just fine though!

Well inquiring minds would like to know the following:

If it was

1- was it from a spray can

2- what brand was it

3- where did you buy it

4- did you over lap 36.2 % on each pass or 42.6 % and why

5- does it have metal ball bearings in it

6- how much did the can weigh

Started out cleaning the steering gearbox for rebuild this morning and on the way to Delco Auto realized I told them pump not box. No problem, ordered the box kit and went home and cleaned the pump. Couldn't get the pulley off even with Bills help so tommorow I'll get what I need for that.

Decided to paint the Vacuum Booster (why would you not put a coat of paint on a $100 part before installing?)with Dupli-Color Engine Enamel Ceramic 500 Degree. That's all I've ever used in the engine bay.

After sanding and cleaning I taped off the appropriate pieces and then proceeded to prime using 45 degree angle short strokes with my left hand middle finger at about 5 ft/lbs on the stem. After giving it the 10 minute flash time I used top to bottom long strokes at 60 degrees using the middle finger of the left hand at appox. 6 ft/lbs.

I will let it cure for 1 week before adding the top coat. Same procedure but 8 ft/lbs with the right hand due to my upcoming surgurey on the left. Little more paint but worth it IMHO

I sealed up the seams on the new floorpans and stripped the undercoating out of the wheelwells. Should be ready to spray-in the new undercoating by next weekend!

What do you mean by a/c dash

On 71-3's dashes were the same, just add the vents and ducts to add a/c
