Made the mistake of going into the garage after lunch because I'm basically going crazy healing. Got busted by Bill after being in there only about 45 minutes. (said he heard the A/C come on) We chose to drink beer and formulate a path forward for when I SHOULD be wrenching! Good friends are hard to find! :D

put my hydroboost and master cylinder from a 04 mustang in the 71 today.

had to fill in the old bolt holes on the mounting plat and drill new ones (easy). After remounting the plate i notice one of the holes was completely covered by the hydroboost unit it self. No room for the nut to go at all.

I shaved about half the head off the bolt then cut a sliver off a 2" alu. pipe to make a shim/washer/spacer to push the mounting bracket away from the hydroboost. First try this made room the bolt and a lock washer.

Everything fits nicely. No problems with alignment of the petal at all.

Sorry the pic is kinda crummy... ill work for more in better light.

Blah day today. Went to the parts store, picked up some fittings for the electric fuel pump with the intention of plumbing the fuel system... and forgot the 3/8" fuel line (already have the clamps). Crap. So, I changed the oil in the Ram (it was due), piddled a bit with the box of parts and realized that I might've lost the small piece of metal that goes between the key lock and latch mechanism for the trunk.

With my lack of focus (it was ONLY 102 today, 107 yesterday) and fail on the fuel line procurement, I decided to cut bait and head home. I'm ordering some more Rust Bullet Black Shell and Dynamat so I can get the floor and interior firewall done to start bolting in things like brake pedal, e-brake pedal, gas pedal, shifter, etc., and run the wiring harness. Maybe one of these weekends soon I'll actually get to fire it up.

Started out sanding and painting the rear door frames for installation later in the week. Then decided to finish painting the vacuum booster I primed last week which led to pedal and booster install just to see new parts in the car. Know they have to come back out for the firewall pad but wanted to see it anyway!

Yesterday i installed my headliner and that is no fun and not an easy task to perform. but for the first time doing it doesnt look to bad just had a coulpe small wrinkles up by the windshield but when the sun visors and headliner trim goes on wont hardly see any.

Well I got 95% of my the bottom of the car in primer this weekend. I need to roll it over the other way and do the rust repair on the left quarter and prime the wheel well. I finally got the glue and gun to install the cowl baffle in place. Getting the cowl baffle done is the 1st project completed in 15 years of owning it.:-/

Well - I've been busy cleaning the firewall, floor, and rear seat area for a coat of Rust Bullet and seam sealer - but honestly, it doesn't look all that much different than when I started in on it with the pneumatic wire-wheel. Me, on the other hand, I spent a few hours last Sunday as a black man (thanks to all of the black goo they sprayed onto the firewall from the factory flying about).

I'll post up a pic when the Rust Bullet's all done (hopefully tomorrow evening).

Throwing the BS flag on this one. What are you guys. closet wrench turners? Be proud, post it up!
lollerz No kidding! Two weeks without a post to the "What did you do" thread. Must be end of summer vacation time. Mine's done. The kids come back to school on Monday. I'm feeling older every day... :)

Haven't touched it in to weeks:mad:. Nothing going to happen this week ether. It's my 17th wedding anniversary so I have to pay attention to the wife:dodgy:. Oh well going to nice dinner tonight and whale watching off the coast of San Diego tomorrow. Then Wednesday she fly's to Chicago to see family. PARTY AT MY HOUSE:D. Ok maybe not but the dog and I will be eating carne asada burritos in the living room in front of TV .

Pulled the headliner [finally] and just as I expected, there was lots of nice factory Ford Light Pewter lookin' back at me. I say 'just as I expected' because most of the rust I've found on mine has been down low and on the horizontal surfaces.

Looks like all the trim pieces around the windows, windshield, and door frame should clean up really well (no deep scratches or plastic embrittlement on any of them - fortunately). It's about time I got a break on 'something' with this project (besides the AOD score)! LMAO

Good work, Eric! Progress, progress, progress! ::beer::

"Embrittlement"?? Great word that makes me understand exactly what you're talking about. You been reading the thesaurus while waiting for the grinder to cool down, or what? :p

Keep up the good work, buddy! :)

Nah - no 'word lizard' perusal... I actually did CLEP English Comp and scored a 435 out of 460. So basically, I can "wordsmith" fairly well, but can't "math" my way out of a paper bag to save my life. I figured out I was in trouble once they started introducing the alphabet into math problems. ;)
