Leaving for Oxford to get my A/C Dash. Will post pics when I return.
What do you mean by a/c dash

On 71-3's dashes were the same, just add the vents and ducts to add a/c
Funny you should point that out. This is what I picked up today (worked out a pretty good deal for it)

Bill and his wife Pauline took the drive with me. Barely fit in the Magnum but did! Poor Pauline had to listen to Mach 1 morris code the whole way home. 3.5 hours! What a nice lady.

Today I started it up. I was visiting the parents (they let me keep it there in the garage). Walked into the garage and said to myself 'Wow, that's a nice looking car!'. Anyways, I fired it up, put it into each gear, let it warm up some and then shut it down. Soon the weather will be nice enough to drive it around again.

Started putting a CD player and new speakers in. I made plates out of sheet aluminum to reduce the holes in the doors. Someone in the past cut the rear panels for door speakers, so I put 4x6s back there to replace them too. I ended up fixing some bad wireing splices while under the dash. I left off with the new speakers in, and new speaker wires ran.

Well, it was yesterday - but I got the rear sway bar installed. I would've had some time to work on it today, but my training class this week was moved up another day, so I had to drive back to San Antonio instead. Which sucks because I just drove back from there on Friday. Oh well.

Tore down the A/C dash for the condenser/blower and ductwork today. Got up with Don about the lower half cover I'm going to need (shocker). Squirrels (or rats) seemed to like it though. :p

Man that seems like so much work & expense to get that original system up & running..Your still gonna have to convert to 134-a..Well better you than me:)

I think I'm gonna do a vintage air setup..Keep tabs I'm curious by the time all is said & done if it works out the same, cheaper, or more price wise going the way you are.

The ductwork and harness were well worth what I paid.

I did the classic auto air perfect fit system and it really was super easy to install, and it is the less expensive alternative. It works great and is not obtrusive in a classic engine compartment. I would highly recommend looking at their systems. If anyone does install one of these, get the center duct register from an AC car. I have a couple of sets if someone needs one. Once that is changed out only the control panel lettering is wrong for a true AC car.

A plus or minus to it depending on your point of view is that you lose your passenger side fresh air vent and the system essentially is always in a recirculate mode. The possible plus is that the cowl no longer needs to be open into the passenger compartment, so if you were creative, you could turn it into a cowl induction system by installing a curved panel to redirect cool high pressure air in to the back of the air cleaner. Since the cowl is a very critical chassis member in a unibody car, stiffness could be added back here in the process.

Removed everything but the upper and lower cowl on the A/C part I picked up Thursday to right a wrong I made. Really in pretty good shape except 1 spot on the drivers side lower. Then started on my front bumper. Removed the brace, cleaned and rustproofed the inside and then blasted and painted the brace with some leftover sand I had. I'll paint that tomorrow.

Started the day finishing and painting the inside of the front bumper. (I know! have to take it back out for the paint guy but I like to keep parts together)

DSCN1889.JPGDSCN1890.JPG

Used my patented folded piece of paper towel to put the nuts back on. (learned that years ago with a pesky nut that kept falling out before I could get it to the stud). :)

Then tore down my steering gearbox so I have something to work on 1 handed after my left hand surgury tomorrow. :p

Sure was great doing some mechanical work for a change. Anybody else done this rebuild? I have a question.

Finally painted my car today (well my friend did)! It came out awesome, but there are some imperfections due to my cheap paint gun/filter dripping water from the air line connection. I am happy though, I can't complain for the price I paid for it. Plus I got a new car last week and changed the oil on it today (last picture) :D. It was a good day for mustangs.
