I can't believe it's been five days since the last post on this thread!

Yesterday I disassembled the tail light assemblies to prep them for refurb. Today I painted the console, shifter bezel and grill black then reassembled them...I must say, they look nice.

On the console I painted it so there is no chrome except for where it says "MUSTANG". I think it looks clean and slick.

Took my dash panel to the shop, and loaded up the wiring harness into/onto it. Dug out the mounting brackets and speaker grill, then 'blasted and paint them (after spending an hour repairing the sand blaster gun - the ceramic tip inside broke years ago, nobody replaced it, and it finally blew out the side of the chassis... so I wallowed out the hole big enough to stuff a pop-rivet in and voila! Works better than ever now.)

The rest of the day was spent cleaning the shop and helping the customers - I'm apparently an 'unofficial' employee now, since the NAF guy they hired got himself fired for stealing tools and money (even lipped off to the SPs when they came to escort him off the base - shoulda tazed him - LOL!!)

Auron showed up after his shift and pitched in as well... so we are pretty much an all-volunteer-run Auto Hobby Shop now.

The interior pieces look great, I was wondering what they would look like painted all black, now I'm not scared too paint mine. The grille is way cool too I have been debating doing that also. I guess great minds think alike :)Thanks for doing it first, now I know how good it all looks

Thanks Ron! I actually got the idea from Luxstang, he used to have a standard grille that he painted black. I'm trying to go for the subdued look which is why I'm painting all the interior chrome "piping" black.

More to come!

Spent the weekend blasting/scrapeing/sanding/grinding all of the suspension pieces. Thirty years of driving, salt, and road crud can do alot to the underside of a car. I think I made good progress towards getting everything ready to install and the car back on 4 wheels.

The drive shaft is in place. Oil in the rear axle (80W90).

I did also some grinding job to the exaust part, tail pipes, then I will put them back, then the mufflers (2 brand new Flowmaster 40 series).

The last job, will be the haeders, one of them is to the welder for renew the 3" flange, totally destroyed and welded with tig with not too much quality, holes everywhere.

I hope to start the engine in the 2 next week.

Oh please someone remind me to fill up the Toploader with oil :).

Any idea about those rims?

I wanted to buy some Magnum or Cragar, but at the end, a little bit of black paint, sure it will be wonderfull, there are 14".

Well, I am glad I could act as a good example for once. :)

Thank you!

I noticed the grille when I saw your pics.

Thanks bro, for being a good example to all of us ::thumb::

:p

Nice rims manu. -4C here right now, and it's warmed up some. Low of -14C.
Thanks, 3 more wheels to do. I'm sure this will be nice on my Grandé.

Tomorrow we expect 17 ° celsius, crazy weather, this evening, I did a bbq, the first one in 2013 :)

So, today, was 18°, yesterday 20°, like spring time!!! But tomorrow winter is back :(

The tail pipes are back in place, and the oil (75W90) in the Toploader. About the tail pipes, was rusty, so I used a brush connected on my drill machine, then paint in black with a high temperature resistant paint.

To everybody, have a nice week end :)

Once again I waited for my car builder to call and say that my car is ready for pickup. He's had it since last May, every week it is going to be ready next week......this is driving me nuts. ::tease::

20130201_145546.jpgStarted the install of sound deadener, hope to get the headliner in next week, if the warmer weather sticks around

Awesome! Let me know how the headliner turns out...that's my next major project.

I told my builder I was going to stop by weekly. As long as every time I went by there I saw progress, then I'd be happy. It took a few months longer than initially planned but it all worked out. Good luck.

So pretty excited. Yesterday I got to fire up the stang and drive it to the car stereo place. It was pretty uneventful, but still fun. It was there overnight. It got rained on a bit before they put it in their garage. Today they installed the alarm system. I was pretty excited to hear the chirp-chirp. It also has a blue flashing light that flashes on the interior when it is armed. sort of ironic that the first car I have owned that has a key fob is nearly 42 years old. Still no electronic door locks, but I think I will save that for after my next deployment. Anyone ever done that before?

I remember the other question I had. Someone mentioned the toploader and getting oil into it. I think my oil level may be low. What would be the signs/symptoms? I have 4 bottles of the oil to put in it, but I can't get it to go in. The angle sucks, the exhaust is in the way and I had to cut the tip down to almost nothing to be able to 'squirt' it out more than a drip. Any ideas? i know they have the little hand pump things you put on the bottle. Do these work?
