As summer seems to have finally settled in even here in Lux and it looks like the top might stay down for the next week or so, I decided to put the top boot on. For the first time in over 7 years by the way. Now I know why I never bothered with it. What a pain.

Anyway it looks pretty good on there. As I know you guys want pics here is one. I went fir a nice long drive through the touristy scenic parts of the country around my home town.

Here's another one of that spot. There is a Mustang in there somewhere. :)

Sharp!

I raced autocross with a local sports car club. I got 5 runs for $10.00. I had an instructor ride with me for 3 of the laps. MAN what a value. They are running again tomorrow... I'm thinking about it! :D
I went back Sunday for a few more runs. The course was altered a little from Saturday. They eliminated the part my car liked the least. It's good to beat on em a little! :D

Very Cool Jeff!!

Took the engine in for the machine work. Looks like it will be a minor bore on the cylinders for sure and awaiting all of the specs on the crank and heads. Need to hold off on any more parts purchases until I have a number locked down on the motor. I am going back with a simple driver 351 2V. Nothing fancy. May put in a 4V cam just for a little more life in it, but nothing to big.

Has anyone had a good or bad experince in buying the rebuild kit? Probably a .030 or less kit with all of the pistons, seals and gaskets, etc. required.

Painted the front fiberglass bumper - PITA, you just love the fiberglass dust don't you. On week end the temp gauge started to show rock steady 260 F. I just tested the electric water temp gauge manufactured by Splitfire, bad gauge, sender works, gauge is dead. First thing to do in the morning is to get a Autometer Sport Comps three in a row, water temp, oil pressure, voltmeter... mut#¤%#¤, still few days & nights before Saturdays Ford Natinals - going to break the 11s barrier on 1/4 mile and looking for +120 mph trapspeeds.

Well I had plans of working on the Mach 1 all day today but my Dad passed away yesterday afternoon and I just could not get my self up off the living room floor.:(
So sorry to hear, I lost my dad 7years ago a month after he was diagnosed w/ cancer . I understand how this can incapacitate you for awhile. Thoughts & prayers with you. Keep the fond memories close to lift your spirits.

I lost my dad in August 2011. He retired in Feb, was diagnosed with renal cancer in March. It's still very hard at times.

Well, since today was officially Day 1 of my furlough, I figured I'd spend the time wisely and work on my Mustang. First, my pal Jim and I took the 'new' fenders, original Ram Air hood, 2 front valances, and the original rear cut-out valance to the soda blasters. Should get 'em back next week.

Also managed to get the inside of the roof loaded up with Raamat (I'll get a pic tomorrow - it was too damn hot today). Pretty much just about ready for the headliner... although, I still need to clean-up the pieces that go back underneath and get the new 'headliner radio antenna' installed first.

went to the opening night of a local car night yesterday w/ the mach,

IMG_20130711_162834_019.jpg

saw a regular who is in my club named ron (username on here is Rgregory) who brought his 73.

And also spent some time talking to a guy called norman who I had seen at a few shows (like MBTB) who has a bright orange 71 vert he had had for the past 30+ years that he is slowly restoring as his budget allows.

The car is in decent, running shape and even has the original inline-6 still in it ...which was interesting cause of course it's something you don't see very often w/ classic mustangs anymore....nevermind with our big/heavy cars.

norman's car at MBTB last year

He was having some trouble finding some parts for his, so I plugged the site and for him to join the SDMC along w/ ron and me

(since there are at least 7 71-73's in the club now) and told it might be a good way to find what he needs. Since up to now he's been buying almost strictly retail/repro.

I also told him about a new class we added at MBTB this year just for 71-73 verts, since we're getting much bigger turn outs of cars like ours every year, and up to now the verts always got shut out by the mach 1's,lol

...so will hopefully be hearing from him a lot more from now on.

"What did you do to your car this month?"

Removed:

finders, hood, bumpers, valances, interior, dashboard,AC,heater, rear windows, front window, Vert top. exterior trim.(took lots of pics and videos)

Cleaned:

Trunk area

Rear windows, slides, regs for paint. Not sure it I can get the rollers as windows are wobbly.

Front window was a PITA

Sanded bumper down to urethane to get an idea of condition.

Modified bumper brackets to get better alignment to fenders(ovaled out holes)

Lots of research other little stuff?

I want to thank everyone for the support so far and a special thanks to mach71351c for all the time he has given me. Thanks Mike!

That's it, that's all you got done! Jim you really need to devote more time to your car!:D
All kidding aside your welcome, my pleasure.

My brother came by and gave me a hand getting my taillight panel fitted into place. Over all i'm stoked how it looks except for the right end cap is a little ruff and cracked. My original end cap is bent beyond repair so i will need to find a better one ( Hint hint Don ) The bummer is I have the day off from work and I want to start welding in the panel but I got "Do not weld in the panel till I come back" from my brother.:dodgy: Who's car is it anyway!:s
