Mr. Mustang say hello to your new friend 3G. Say good by to your external regulator and rats nest wiring that it included. New 95 Amp Alternator and wiring to simplify my setup and improve reliability also. Had to grind a little bit of the ribbing for the pulley to fit but works perfect. 14.3 Volts at idle

All crimp connections soldered and dielectric grease to prevent corrosion. Amp gauge is more or less inop now but it was crap anyway.

Parts List below:

Don't have to have this harness. But I refuse to modify my stock harness. I tapped into the Coil Positive for my switched power to the Alternator and my Electric Choke.

Yesterday, I was able to get the Classic Auto Air heater controls installed into the radio bezel with the cable/electric controllers. Little bit of a PITA, especially with no instructions and the whole 'universal' fit of the controller bezel being nowhere close to the factory size.

Thanks to a whole week of much needed rain, I rather doubt my sheet metal currently at the 'blaster will be ready until next Friday earliest (since he 'blasts in a covered open stall outside.

I must ask: has anybody had any success in getting out the bolts from the urethane bumper? I have new mounting brackets, so I at least need to get those two out - but as with everything else on my car, they're rusted solid to the clips and I have no idea what to use to get them out (I'd like to remove them all, since I have a new bumper bolt kit and would like to 'blast the metal piece before applying Rust Bullet). The biggest Phillips I have is nowhere close to fitting well. 3 solid weekends of soaking with PB Blaster and I've used an impact driver as well (fortunately, not mangled anything at this point, either).

This is the only photo I could find online.

My bumper only has a major gouge and outward 'dimple' on the underside, and mostly minor surface stuff to repair on the top and other 'visible' areas - totally restorable, IMHO.

I'd thought about welding a nut onto each of the bolt heads and using some real tools to remove them, but I'm afraid of melting the urethane.

Well after a long leave time visiting my family I started back on the car. Bought an engine hoist and stand for $150 bucks from harbor freight and pulled the engine and trans today (by myself, just a little stressful). Going to pull out the suspension tomorrow hopefully.

Official start of the restoration today - pulled the seats and door sill plates. Found the build sheet but it was in a couple of pieces and if it was ever filled out the build is unreadable now.

Driver's seat is bent. I had cut a small piece out of the vinyl to send to Cerrulo to see if they have a reasonably close match in cloth. The brown seems to be difficult as new cars have not used brown for a while. I have decided to get the original style vinyl from TMI and have ordered the SC seats.

Having taken the back seats out, I found a little mouse sign. Not too bad for 29 years of storage however. I guess having a bull snake den under the shed helps rodent control ;).

Hopefully, tomorrow will pull up the carpet and see if there is any damage underneath.

3G say hello to your new friend in crime PMGR. Hooked up my PMGR Starter and what a difference. Half the weight and the car turns over awesome. I also clearanced one of my headers with the bell housing so it wasn't touching anymore. Locked it in place and no more exhaust leaks. I will see about the other side next weekend.

Unfortunately catastrophe hit and the end broke off my accelerator cable. So car is down for the time being until I get a new one in. Already messaged Don at OMS since I also ordered a lower shifter boot from him last week.

I was replacing floor panels and nicked a fuel line. The ensuing flames got out of control very quickly. I had the wife call 911 while I got the garden hose and tried to keep the flames from getting to far out of control. The fire department came and hosed everything down. What a mess!! The dash is completely melted along with the heater box, all the wiring, interior panels, and the roof sags 2-3 inches. I'm thinking this car is toast. I am so bummed out right now. I don't know what the insurance company will do for/to me. But I know I have a big mess to try to clean up, so I can assess my losses. :(

So what did I do to my car today? I wound up setting it on fire and nearly burned my garage down. I would not recommend anyone else try it.

It was good talking to you on the phone. I'm VERY glad your house didn't go up in flames or worse. You sounded in good spirits about it all so I feel ok with posting the below pic...

Yup, that's pretty much what it looked like, except for the tailpipe. But it's just stuff. The family is safe, and that's the important part. Now I can start cleanup, assess what I can salvage and what is lost.

Thanks for the graphic, though, Don. It made me smile.

Man, I am bummed to hear about that, but glad to hear everything else is OK, for the most part. After you get a chance to heal and assess the damage, let us know how bad things got. I know taking pics of sad things is no fun, but it might give us a chance to see how things are and perhaps share some insight.

Best wishes and thoughts for some type of recovery.
