@ MSD unit-no problem w/6200 rpm limit as max power is at 5,600 RPMs. Never had it on the track for the quarter miler but w/my Summit SS unit-measured 0-60mph @ 6.0 seconds and that was before running the K & N open air filter on my ram air-and ltd slip posi traction. Though when having lifter adjusted w/the Edelbrock 2 barrel intake manifold w/700 cfm 4 barrel solid throttle body MPEFI calculated @ best of 105 mph 1/4 mile in 11.9 seconds.



Cleaned up chrome on the console. Also painted the clock bezel area.

Waiting on medium blue paint to arrive so I can finish the rest of it.

So, in all my complaining the other day about not being able to find the Mach 1 grille emblem, I consulted my spreadsheet and determined that I'd already ordered one (confirming that I just KNEW I had... and it had been back-ordered at the time). Last night, my wife found a box in her sitting room remodeling project area from NPD with the emblem in it... still sealed... from July of 2013... behind the chair (I'm just going to blame one of the cats for knocking it off the back of the chair or something and move on).

This morning, I grabbed my breakfast with the intent of catching up on forum stuff, researching some more parts to order, and getting a rain barrel on order (to hopefully arrive before next weekend) and the computer's toast... won't restart from hibernate mode. Crap. Long story short: one of my 'old' video cards STB and prevented Win7 from restarting. Swapped in her old vid card with a bad GPU fan (drop of oil in the bearing got it quiet again) and all is well again - she's had my hot-rod vid card in hers for a few months now supporting her WoW habit.

OK - so NOW I'm going to go put the grille emblem on and hopefully find some more fasteners that have gone walk-about.

Anyways I found a short that was causing my wipers not to work. So yay my wipers work now! Umm I took old nasty lug nuts and replaced them with pretty chrome ones.

And replaced my headlights.

I bought ford medium blue metallic spray can so tomorrow I will finish up my console and dash. Tested my cowl with a gallon of water and no leaks so that's good. Basically its all starting to come together and tomorrow should be a great day for getting stuff done.

CONGRATS!!! I've only been looking THREE YEARS for a nice set like that!!!!! :mad: :D

 
Yesterday, I repaired a stress crack in the base of my right-hand sport mirror. I guess "repaired" is the wrong term. I whipped up some JB Weld and slathered it on the inside of the pot metal casting to help stop it from cracking any further. I don't want to replace it because that would involve paint work (which gets mighty expensive for small jobs!).

 
Glad to hear you say that - I did the exact same thing with mine... except, that it was after I got it back from the painter, and discovered it had not been fixed.

 
Hey it was the 70's. He was going for excellent MPG's.
He must have thought that by putting a cheap timing pointer on his engine - which was definitely not pointing to 0 TDC when I pulled it off - would give him better MPG too:

Installed the original Ford timing mark pointer (found in the spares box!), shown here. The damper has not moved from where TDC was indicated by the el-cheapo replacement part:

Well I'm a happy camper. Painted my dash and reinstalled the glove box.

I'm happy with the turnout. Especially from a $15 dollar can of ford medulium blue metallic.

Don't mind the ripped seats or the makeshift dashpad. The're just placeholders till its in the funds to replace. Haha kinda like everything else.

What's more, the other pushrods appear to be a bit loose when not compressed. Opened the front end to double check the timing chain; found a Ford Racing unit installed in there.

Not sure if they wiped out the CompCam that they put in it, put the wrong pushrods in, or if that backfire from yesterday due to the dizzy caused this. I'm hoping it's the latter, for it means the Jethro that rebuilt this motor didn't run it like this (and he claims he did run it). The minimal scrapes on the pushrods seem to suggest recent damage.

At any rate, I'm not going to worry about it now, seeing as I may not be satisfied if I don't pull the heads to inspect. Back to finishing Soylent Green.

Could it be that they installed springs with higher open pressures and the pushrods couldn't handle it? If thats the case thicker walled pushrods should do the trick.

 
We took the 71 Mustang E/S racecar to Norwalk, OH for an NHRA Division 3 event. Off the trailer it went 10.85 @ 122, that's within .011 of it's best time ever. The best run of the weekend was a 10.81 @ 122. Not bad considering we rebuilt the entire chassis and rear suspension over the winter.

 
Just sent Don another $440 for fasteners to put some of my other new parts on (also got some other cool things as well). ;) :D

It has double springs in it now.

Which springs, I don't know - but the Comp Cams 268H cam in the car now (#32-221-3) recommends dual-spring set #940-16. The pushrods recommended by Comp are 5/16 / 8.412 - stock specs.

pulled my rear wheels brakes and axles. Axle bearings looked fine, but I had a seal to replace anyway and I found that when I let my shop buddy have his morons install the rear brakes they pressed it all together with the retaining plates in place and they should have been left off for the baer brackets. (Yes they were new bearings as they were new axles) So the bearings have to come off so I can correct that (Yeah I could cut the plates, but I'm this far, so why not do it right?) I've got a tight spot that appears to be on the ring gear as it only comes up once every 4 driveshaft rotations, but I've decided to go ahead and pull the diff tomorrow night so we can fully inspect carrier bearings etc.

I hate noises that shouldn't be there!
