finished repairing my steering column and rag joint, got a new door data plate stuck on my car, test drove it.

Yesterday I worked on the front end alignment. The caster is set to 1* and adjusted the toe-in. I'll need to adjust the camber next. It's amazing what you can do with a bubble protractor.

The camber adjustment brought the front up a little more.

Was going to put the shocks in this weekend but it's going to rain all weekend so I took it to the transmission shop to get the differential done. I wanted to do the shocks but figured they might as well do it since it will already be on the lift.

They will also check my kick down linkage for me {quick fuel Q series carbs don't come with the adapters for the kick down another company makes them}

they will take it for a drive to make sure the transmission is in good working order {they rebuilt it so it's still guaranteed} and make sure it shifts well. It seemed to shift to quickly from one to second.

A big thanks to my boss for letting me put that on the company bill. I guess I'll be working overtime for the next couple of weeks to pay it off hahaha.

Broke my remote control mirror knob off with my knee getting in the car with too much enthusiasm.

 Shazbut!

Happy to see though that OMS sells them pretty cheap for when i put in my next order. In the meantime I'll just grow my thumb and index finger fingernails long so I can manipulate the broken knob stub.....

Bled the brakes, took it for a test drive.

preparing a 750cfm 4 barrel to 650 cfm 4 barrel carburetor swap. yes going smaller I'm losing throttle signal too fast in the mid range and its causing the engine to lean out big time.

We installed the rebuilt carb today and started her up. She ran, but the carb is really beat up and had been jury rigged over the years. I will ship it off to the Pony Carburetors and have it professionaly redone.

Got all but the last of the repairs made to the 'new' front clip, and applied the first coat of Rust Bullet Black Shell. It's freaken AWESOME!! Thanks Scott!

Here's the clip back from the 'blaster:

Welded on the new frame rail (thanks Don). I had to graft it on, since I didn't want to remove the torque box. Sorry it's sideways.:

Patched a small hole the sand blaster burned through - it really did look better than this... honest:

Repaired a couple of slices in the frame from the 'yard dogs:

And finally, put the first coat of Rust Bullet Black Shell on the whole thing (didn't do the battery tray/apron because I have new ones to install later).

Still gotta touch up some spots I missed, and run the sponge through the frame rails. Scott gave me some much-needed and appreciated advice on how to proceed next (thank you, thank you, thank you!). I'm thinking I'll finally be cutting the front end off the car sometime next weekend. Can't wait!

Oh yeah - also snagged some Torino mirrors off ebay with BOTH driver AND passenger cable remote controls - they just showed up yesterday. I'm SO stoked!!

Hafta grind it off - won't weld thru. Also going to get some weld-thru primer for the shiny metal spots when it's time to put it together - as advised by The Man himself (Scott).

The Rust Bullet Black Shell is some awesome stuff. What you see is a first coat applied with a paint brush. The stuff flows so well, it back-filled the brush strokes so you see very little in the way of brush marks. I'm also going to hold off on the second coat until I get the clip on the car, then put a 'finish' coat of the stuff on. According to the Rust Bullet folks, this stuff is better than paint for underhood applications, so I won't be painting since it's already such a nice finish... and should only get better with the second coat.

Finished up with the Rust Bullet today. Touched up some spots I missed while it was on its nose, then painted up the radiator support as well.

Next up - hack off the original clip and swap this one in. Gonna try and tackle that starting this coming Thursday.

CRUISE' IN's HERE I come

Had to put a new mini high torque starter on (had to) on the 71 Mach I. Since then I had a bad short draining the battery after a little driving time. So a car buddy and I checked everything... reworked the wires... cleaned up a bunch of stuff, found two possible culprits grounding out, put on a ground cable and now she looks a lot neater and the charging tested at 14.6!!!!

test drive proves the work to be successful SO FAR!

ehhh even let the wife drive it.... what does she do?? punches it and we are 200 feet from a stop sign!!::help::
