Another pan floor question

Hello,

I need to replace the driver side floor pan, I already have the rear part, but after removed the carpet, it appears that the rest of the floor is not in good condition, even the seat platform need to be replaced. So to me I think it's better to change the complete floor pan than just weld the rear pan I have and add the rest on it.

I found a dealer in France who sells from Scott Drake:

M207-8LH and M107-8ALH

What is the difference between those two parts? Looks like both can be monted in the Mach 1.

And if I decide to use my rear part, there are 3 choices but can't see the difference:

You'll want the 71-73 specific floor pans, not the generic "64-73", which only truly fit 64-70. The -8LH is the correct one for 71-3. The -8ALH is the generic.

I got the Dynacorn ones from CJPonny and they fit very well. They are still a bit thinner than stock, but acceptable.

Edit: today I measured the floor's thickness. The Dynacorn floor pan appears of similar thickness as the stock, 0.028", 23 gauge, does that make sense for stock? My problem is that it has been a challenge to find a good piece of the OEM to measure thickness.

On the reproduction seat platforms, I believe they are using the coupe specifications. I believe the fastback used a shorter, in height, due to the slope of the top of the auto. There are several threads related to this issue on the forum. You may need to find a good used set.

You are right, coupé's seat platform are higher than the fastback ones. I was thinking that coupé and fasatback use the same and convertible another, I was wrong. What I can do is that:

The 71/73 reproduction seat plaform is higher, so as you said based on the coupé specs.

Yup... pretty much what I did to mine. I trimmed what needed be trimmed, and re-bent the tabs, rather than cut it apart and re-weld it back together.

You did that with an original part or with a reproduction one?

The repops from CJPP. Same ones as shown in the pics of the link you posted.

Notice the difference? They still sit about 1/2" higher than the factory fastback platforms, but it's a lot better than 1 3/4" higher (or so - I forget how much taller they were).

Well, I'm still looking for a used one from Mach1, but I know I have this solution if I find nothing.

When I originally did mine using the repops, I put them in the car in the stock position and then installed the sound deadener and new interior. Looked great. Then sat in the car and my head hit the roof and i had no leg room. So I cut mine down and also moved them back a couple inches for more leg room, just like Eric did. Sure was a pain in the ass cleaning off the sound deadener. So test fit them and get them where you want first. Lesson learned here. Pics of cutting them back out!!

The 71-73 cougar coupe seat platforms are the same short ones used in the mustang fastbacks. I discovered this while replacing mine on my Mach 1. A friend of mine had a cougar parts car, I compared them to my originals and BADDA BING! I couldn't tell any difference.
