Installing new lever on convertible top

I need to install a new lever. The PO put it on using a bolt and nut but it hits when lever is closed. In the pic its the rivet that holds the lever. Anyone done this before and what did they use?

Any help is appreciated.

Have not done it myself, but what comes to mind is a threaded insert.

I'm pretty sure you could get a rivet as well, but I imagine proper installation with the frame on the car would be difficult.

"I love my Hookers!" and "Get some Strange" probably have a different connotation to non automotive enthusiasts!
