Dash pad install

Hi all , 

Quick one , when I install the dash pad on a 73 mustang, does the pad hold the speed nuts or the actual dashboard, reason is the dash pad leading edge metal strip seems to fit better when installed between the trim panels and the dashboard rather then on the top of the dash ?

I am not sure I understand your question correctly, but I'll give it a try...

If I recall correctly, the speed nuts/clips are on the dashboard lip to attach the dash pad. There are speed nuts/clips on the dash pad metal edge to attach the gauge trim panel, center console, and trim over the glove box.
