Im looking at headers for my car. I am wondering what size would I need to get 1' 3/4 etc? I do not want to buy the wrong ones and have to ship them back. I know most of you have more experience than I do. I bought headers for the corvette I built and my 5.0 but it was straight forward with those two cars.

Assuming a 351C? There are lots that fit the car but may not fit your intentions. What are you looking to do with the car and engine? That will help folks provide more specific recommendations.

Well, It's a little modified, it has been rebuilt with top pistons, it has the Holley Brawler BR7302-1 2370 carburetor. Trick Flow aluminum heads ( I don't have the model number yet). Edelbrock RPM Airgap intake. MSD ignition, looks like stock exhaust manifolds. I am anting to get the headers and then ill have an H pipe built as I have done before at an exhaust shop I use. I don't know what mufflers it has. Keep in mind I just got in a couple of months ago and with my work schedule i have not had time to bring it from Dallas to Tulsa Oklahoma where my family's farm and large shop we build our personal cars in. I took these few months to purchase all new Ginger interior, I bought a 1 in front sway bar, .5 inch rear sway bar, Qa1 set of adjustable shocks, new bearing kit. as I am going to do road racing for fun. That is all the info I have and any guiding on the headers would be much appreciated.

Hooker Competition 6915 for the 4 barrel heads

Hooker Long Tube Headers 1-3/4" Competition Ceramic Coated 4-Barrel 351C 1971-1973

Hooker:
6915-1HKR These are %730

Or what if I got these a guy is selling online and had them ceramic dipped. I could get them for 200 "Came off of a 351 Cobra Jet with Factory 4 Barrel with Big Heads, and Big 2" Ports. From A 1972 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Ports are 2" tall, Primary pipes are 1.75" Down to 3" collectors In Dalton Ga"

Well even if I got these for 200 and paid 299 to dip that would be 400, i would save 300 dollars but they dont look to be the best of shape but I do like how they are original. If you go off the guys word.

That's my question, too. All of these cars came with cast iron exhaust manifolds.
Im just going off what the guy is says that is selling them, that they came off a a cobra jet motor, I know Shelbys came with headers so not all came with just iron exhaust manifolds. And some dealerships you could order them with your mustang back in the day. Which is still considered an option, much like when i ordered my new jeep wrangler, I was able to order Jeep brand parts

Need to know what trick-flow heads you have. I believe most of them have the 2v ports that are raised .10
Thanks for being the only one offering any help on my post. I called the guy that sold me the car and his wife is goign to have himi call me so ill get to find out which Trick flow heads htey are. Thank you!

I apologize if I came across as not offering any help. My concern was the set you were looking at were being sold as something that originally came with the car from the factory. Or perhaps they were specifying their hookers were an earlier model run.

The reason you are being asked a lot of questions, and not just being offered specific products or opinions is because for the 351C a handful of different types of heads available from the factory and a few that are aftermarket. Above performance considerations, which is what I was alluding to in my original response, there are two original factory port sizes. We refer to them at 2V and 4V. Headers and exhaust manifolds are technically interchangeable (you can bolt them on) but they will leak if mismatched and performance will suffer. Additionally you mentioned you have Trick Flow aluminum heads. I just did a cursory look and there are 8 different models available. I didn't dig into which port sizes they used or if they have a custom size. Using the stock heads some header models get very close to the power steering, if your trickflow heads have altered the location of the exhaust ports this might cause an issue.

I run hookers. I had good luck with their 2v comp headers. When I went to 4V heads I had good luck with their supercomp headers except they hang pretty low and after mashing one (my fault) I replaced them with a set of new ceramic hooker comp headers.

The other available header designed for the 71-73s is the Hooker 6921, which has the 2V head exhaust port size and shape. These may be a better fit with the TFS head port shape. I don't think the .100" raised exhaust port is going to affect anything regarding header fitment.

TFS puts a serial number tag on each head, you can call them with that info to determine exactly which heads you have. I'd trust the manufacturer more than a previous owner with a foggy memory.

FWIW, a forum search for "trick flow" - be sure to include the quotes, yields several threads where people have reported to use the 4V Hooker Headers on TFS heads with out issues.

I think there was a little confusing on my side as well. When I said original I was quoting the fb market ad for those so called cobra jet headers. I understand your asking about my after market heads which would that determine what size headers i should get? i They are after market heads trick flow and im going to get the detials on them soon when the guy has time but he has the stock ex manifolds on them so shouldnt i be able to tell which size headers i should get by knowing that?

Ill be honest, i love forums as they are so helpful in learning and exchanging info but unfortunately ive grown to think twice about using it because the egos and the folks that love to put you down for calling something by a name that might not be right for example one time I wrote i got the 351 4 valve, instead of 4 venturi althought the 4 people that ripped me didnt know the real term 4 venturi which 4v is short for but they ripped me for saying 4 valve, , saying doesnt mean they have 4 valve, well they knew damn well what i meant, as the 2v has the two openings in the intake insteadof the 4 openings the 4v have. this is justone example of why im close to being done with forums. And this forum when i first introduced myself when when i bought my mach 1 they went and researched me because im a girl, im transgender and they brought my personal life into and it really hurt my feelings because i just came to discuss and learn about these years of mustangs. so I apologize if i was short, i may have read into that wrong as I thought instead of explaining what more infoo you both needed from me then both would have asked me instead of saying like what does this girl mean original. So i apologize myself.

No worries. I tend to read each post thread as a 'stand alone' and unless someone is a constant poster that I easily recognize I don't pay much attention to 'who' posted. In general I have had good luck with this forum and the folks who are members. There is always the chance for misunderstanding with the written word, different personalities and in some cases language but the overall drama level on this board is pretty low.

I am not familiar with Trick Flow heads and any of the nuances of what will and will not 'work' with them so I am not going to be much help.

Thanks, yeah unfortunately it was about 4 people out of the 40 people that responded to my introduction which its rare for a girl to build or even drive pony cars so I do get a lot of responses, all were great and welcoming just the few but i think they either got a warning or banned as after a moderator stepped in i never heard from them again. I first joined another one but 10 out 15 people were so terrible to me and they kicked because of my profile picture was of me in my bikini driving my mustang a really cool photo but it was a bizarre mustang forum, it was not like this where it's about tech, learning, teaching, it was more social and it was not what i was looking for anyways. They didn't care that guys were trying to hit on me through my post where all can see, IT was just straight up bizarre forum so i was so happy i found this one.
