I am trying to install the rear valance and need some help.

Does anyone have a hole size and location for the hole in the bottom of the quarter panel to receive the valance mounting bolt?

I plan to oversize the hole some,  but I need some coordinates.

So far, I hanged the valance by the tail light panel bolts and used tape to get the approximate location shown.  I am unsure how to verify before drilling.

Please help!

Before you commit, hang the valance and the bumper and step back to make sure they are even vertically. You could end up with a big gap on one side if you don't do this.

To locate the hole, get a couple carriage bolts that fit the keyhole slot in the valance. Use a spacer and a nut to lock it down to the valance, then mount the valance to the taillight panel. Put a blob of grease, paint, blood or whatever on the tip of each bolt and swing the bottom of the valance into position. Whatever you put on the bolt will transfer to the quarter and you have your drilling locations.

Well, I have not found a way to drill square holes yet;-)

Actually we came up with an idea to insert a crayon in the fastener slot on the valance.  It worked quite well.

To get you a square hole if you need 1/4" just drill 1/4" diameter hole and use a small file to square the corners. I do not remember the bolts size there? Probably not over a 1/4" might be a 10-24.
Yep!  Takes ones of minutes to make a square hole with a sharp file.  That way the special fastener does not spin round and round.

You could get a square hole punch, but they have gotten ridiculously expensive. A few minutes with a file will take care of it. You can use a Dremel with the pointed carving bit to rough it out and finish with a triangular file.

Well, I went for a round hole so I could make some progress.   I can always square it later but I doubt I will.

Now to the next kick in the project nuts.....the bumper bracket mounting hardware.

They say it is OEM, but mine came with the giant U nuts like the body assembly manual shows.  The ones from the master body kit are not long enough to work

.

It's always nice to be able to say "I found my nuts" after a day like this.

Thanks for the information and the reply.  At least its easier to make the hole larger than smaller!

Goodness!

A rechromed original bumper.

Yep, my car will not be perfect by any means, I chose to use as many of the original parts as I could, Not the original finishes on the fasteners, but I had to use the original bumper hardware. Original bumper bolts and license light assembly too. That Valence is NOT perfect, but it is original Ford also.

Nice! Who re-chromed your rear bumper and how much did that cost you?
The  company was A&A Plating in Independence,  mo.  I cannot recall the price as it was done 14 years ago.
