Seat Belt/s Question

Hello Fellow Enthusiasts. After replacing the carpets in my 1973 Mach 1 ( found the build sheet under the passenger seat carpet padding)

I noticed that the drivers seat belt that attaches to the transmission tunnel has a plastic sleeve covering the seat belt webbing, where as the passenger seat just has a Longer webbed seat belt ( No plastic sleeve)

I was wondering what is the FACTORY style installed seat belt configuration/style?

I like the looks & convenience of the plastic sleeve, as there is NO digging around for the seat belt.

Is it possible to buy just "1" passenger side plastic sleeved seat belt in Black?!...THANKS!!!, Mark

If it's any help, my late build 73 has the black cover on both sides. Sure you can find one on ebay or ask around here.

My Oct 72 built 73 Sports roof came with non-covered belts with the plastic exploding button type. I traded them out for the covered style. Much easier to find. Had the same style button buckle.

Not being a purist, I just swapped them out altogether for a modern 3-point kit from CJPP - which came with the plastic covers and all new mounting hardware: http://www.cjponyparts.com/seat-belt-3-point-retractable-with-push-button-front-pair-coupe-1968-1973-fastback-1965-1973/p/SBR7-V/

The kit went in perfectly, except I needed different bolts for the top-mount, as the ones in the kit were too big (no biggie since I still have a big bucket of fasteners from when I was putting the car back together - old and new).

I'm probably going to have my wife make some kind of padded sleeves for the plastic covers, though, since I don't want to have any kind of scraping or paint removal on the center console. In my '82 Mustang, I had some of those seat belt pads I wrapped around the belt covers - they worked like a champ, and kept things a bit cooler to the touch in the New Mexico blast-furnace sun.

I purchased the a 3 point kit from Don at Ohio Mustang. There were a few items I changed on my car for Safety reasons and this is one. I've not installed it yet.

I got mine from CJPP as well. I also had to use the old bolts at the top because the new ones were too long. Hopefully they get that right in the future but I do love the three point belts that retract.
