Crap - wish I would've known you needed a driver side trunk drop-off - I have a spare one from when CJPP kept me on back-order for 6 weeks last winter. Well... had - I used some of the upper portion for some small patches. ;)

Nice job! Like the look of the carpet. How long would you say to do the entire job with cleaning?
Thanks Mark, in all it took me about 10 hours or so. The package tray area had some rust that I had to clean, the other two pieces didn't have much rust at all. I used the steel wool to polish up the chrome and get the corrosion off the screws. Not too bad of a job. When you cut the carpet to size, use a carpenter's square to keep a straight line. If not the carpet will unravel. Ask me how I know. :D

I ran my first autocross today with the local Porsche club. They were gracious and helpful hosts. The cool thing was Mustangs bookended the field. A prepped 2012boss 302 lead the field with a 51 and change second lap. I brought up the tear with a 71 and change lap. The course was long and tight but what a blast. I ran it in second gear and hit about 50 on the fastest portion. I made a metric ton of mistakes and learned as much.

This event revealed a ton of deficiencies in the suspension. Worst of all was the ultra slow steering gear. I need to figure out how to make it quicker.

A co-worker was there with his girlfriend (she was racing) and he took photos. I'll post some up when I get them.

I'll be doing more of this!!!

While Mel was sleeping (she's on graveyard) started at the back of the car and was going to clean prep and prime. Found a few small spots I missed that needed welded. Welded them up . Didn't want to grind or vacuum so I ran down to get the paint for the other frame engine mount and primed, painted and installed it. Then started on the heater core replacement. Suddenly, actually saw the female happy dance I'de heard so much about. Kids start school tomorrow. Weird

After a couple weekends of removing headliner, scrubbing adhesive, and scuffing factory paint, I finally was able to get the interior Rust Bullet'd. I love the Black Shell, so I got a couple quarts last week. It took almost a full quart and around 4 hours (with lots of contortioning as well) but I'm almost all done. Still got a few things to finish up (like behind the kick panel frame work, jambs, doors, and the package tray area - which I'll do after I pull the rear glass), but I'm about 90% done with it now.

Hopefully, I'll get to seam seal and RAAMat the main part so I can get the brake pedals mounted up.

If the shifter looks huge, it's because it's out of the '89 5.0 I scored the AOD from. I haven't decided if I'm going to keep it or not (it'll need some work to fit in there a little better).

Steve, why was the WWB .45 out next to the 10 hour project?
Haha! I emptied that box a while ago...it was holding the screws.

However, this weekend my wife got her first pistol: Ruger LCR. I'm going to teach her how to shoot next weekend. Well, first lesson anyway.
Steve, I suggest a little training about how to teach your wife to shoot. Some great points for the husband coach are at http://www.corneredcat.com/Contents/. Plus a good site for her.

Congrats on the LCR...nice little pistol.

Cornered cat seem to have issues!

Here's a photo of attempting to smooth out the rocker moldings. :D

I think I need better sway bars too!
Wheels and tires tucked!

Thanks Eric for the offer but I wanted to keep as much of the original panel as I could. The ribbing on the aftermarket drop off panels are not the same as the originals and the right side is still good. Their was just enough good metal left to weld to.

The black shell looks good.

To date;

Some of my engine parts were delivered today for my 302, cam, all the bearings needed, valves lifters, head bolts etc etc. Christmas day comes on a regular bassis when parts are delivered :)

Engine is away at the moment at the local engineering shop having all the required work done to bring it back to life after laying dormant since 1989. The good news is the block and heads successfully came through the pressure testing ok and has cleaned up well.

The body is being stripped back to bare metal panel by panel and treated with acid before having a coat of primer. Wherever the car was stored for nearly two and a half decades it's been kind to the metal work. Even the rear quarters are original.

The bodyshop have fitted a new rear light panel.

The front end was sand blasted and coated. Again no rot was found and the cowl area was surprisingly clean.

Only thing I'm changing panel wise is a new ram air hood to replace the standard hood.

My loom was restored courtesy of Midlife Harness's. Sat for so long you never know what's been nibbling under the dash.

Minus this pile of surplus wire and poor connections

Some parts I can restore myself in my small dedicated shed/workshop.

Still a long way to go though. I must be mad :D
