WOW!!!! Looking great. I love the color. what is it? Are you planning for any stripes? Beautiful looking car keep up the good work!
Thanks! The pictures really don't do it justice but wanted to show everyone the progress. The color is called Black Sapphire Pearl (color code, 8U0). It's a Lexus color used in the late 2000s. It is a really dark and rich blue. In the sun it is just unbelievable. I do plan to add a white (Starfire White Pearl, 077) hockey stick on the sides but nothing on the hood. Hopefully I'll be putting it back together by the weekend...

yeah that looks awesome. Can't wait to see it all put together.

Did you paint the top of the dash the same color? You might find it reflects into the windshield making it hard to see sometimes.

I spent the day cutting parts out of my exhaust and fashioning up a 'temporary' fix. I got the drive shaft back in as well. Today I will fix the driver side exhaust and hook up the electronics for the GV.

I will splice the tach connection too, I am having my tach rebuilt by Rocketman. So I might fire it up today but probably won't drive it without the dash in. (But who knows, maybe I will). :)

Yes, I did paint it the same color. I never thought about that...hopefully it will not be a problem. I just put in the new windshield yesterday so I'm headed towards the home stretch...

I have mine out as well and am going to paint it flat black. I had done a gloss/semi gloss (don't remember) and the reflection was bad enough that sometimes I could hardly see. I kept a towel in the car with me that I would toss onto the dash. If I don't like how the flat black looks I will go back to the towel method. ;)

I'll have to see how it plays out...at least I will have a towel handy thanks to you! :)

Another day, another day under the car... I have to tell you, my lifted Jeep Cherokee with big tires is so much easier to get under...

Anyways, a good day. I got it all buttoned up underneath and even fired it up. Warmed it up, put it in all of the gear positions, check the tranny fluid, added a little and then got it perfect.

So after a few weekends of work, test fitting, wrangling, modifying and such I was able to start her up, put her in gear and there were no WTF noises. ;)

While I am anxious to try out the GV I decided to make the installation as much of an enjoyment as possible. The hard part is done. A few more electrical hook ups along with the sub project tach rebuild and I will be able to take her for the 'oh so anticipated test drive'.

Did some wet sanding and scuffed the paint a little and now painting the stripes...getting closer! Still need to do a little touch up and put the stripe on the trunk. Then a little wet sanding and shoot the clear... FYI...I'm not doing the work, just a little help here and there. Raul's the expert!

Went out to the garage and uncovered the mustang. Been under cover for a few months. DUSTY as all get out! Sat and had a beer and stared at it waiting for spring. Only 7 degrees F out yesterday. Got the urge to start it after another beer. Fired right up and sounded great. Let it get up to temp., shifted into forward and reverse a few times make sure everything was working as it should. Checked all the fluids. Yep, Im ready for spring!!!! Had a few more beers while staring at it, then covered it back up and went back in house!

Good day. Got the replacement LED dash lights in. Found out they have a specific polarity. Much much brighter than stock.

Also got Rocketman's upgraded tach installed. It will be nice to have an accurate tach again and it looks great.

Tomorrow I think I will be able to drive it for the first time in about a month. The weather here in Phoenix is awesome especially for a droptop.

I had a charging problem. Turned out to be loose bolts holding the voltage regulator to the inner fender apron causing a bad ground. Easy fix but I missed my cruising opportunity troubleshooting.

Today I finally got my engine painted. YAY! Next steps: Pull the existing stock 2V engine and FMX, clean and paint the engine compartment, install the newly built beast and the AOD setup!

Been taking all the exterior trim and vinyl off so that I can strip her down to metal and prime for body work. Today I got the grille, front bumper, fender extensions, front valance turn signals and windshield trim off.

I had a starting problem. Diagnosed it as a failed starter solenoid. Replaced it and moved on along.

Yesterday, I got the hood hinges cleaned, repainted, and springs installed. Today I was able to get the hood installed (mock fit for the paint shop, so they have all the fasteners in the right places - also, the best way I can think of to transport it). This is the first time since August 2010 that the hood has actually been installed on the car. Hopefully, just one more 'take off' (by the painter) and we're done.

And while we're at it, I decided to take one for the 'Over the hood pics' thread... just because I actually HAVE a hood now. rofl

Sweet... I know the feeling, I've been there for quite some time and now it's coming together. Keep up the good work, I can really see yours coming together!

Today, I got the rear bumper and windshield supports (or whatever they're called - on the cowl) installed... after totally cleaning and repainting them. I coulda swore I ordered new bumper brackets... but I guess not. Oh well.

Sucky part is that the camera's batteries wouldn't even let me power it up. Next time. :D

Nothing w/ the 72....since it's at my parents house and I no longer live there.

But I am getting ready to send my 91 LX into the shop to be repainted
